TexasT 0 Posted February 6, 2008 My first appointment is scheduled for February 13th. Is there anything you folks would say I should make sure about asking that you wish you had found out early on?

TexasT 0 Posted February 6, 2008 I hope all goes well for you. Do you know if your insurance is going to cover? I don't know yet. When I made the appointment they told me they thought it did, but when I look at my insurance online it is blank where the bariatrics is listed, so I don't know. T. wantolose155 0 Posted February 6, 2008 My consult is the 13th too! How exciting, I will be self pay and as far as questions go, I can't think of any I am going to ask because alot of them were answered during the seminar, but who knows I may think of something while I am there.... Good luck!

girlie 0 Posted February 6, 2008 Good for you for taking the first step, which first appt are you attending??? Initial consultation, seminar, ?? Different insurances require different first appts. I will be happy to share.......Girlie
TexasT 0 Posted February 6, 2008 I am going for the initial consultation. I couldn't make the scheduled seminar. I am hoping my insurance will pay, but if not I will be a self pay. It's going to happen one way or the other. Maybe we can all partner up to encourage each other through the process. Where are you all located. I'm in DFW area of Texas. Girlie, what can you share. I'm full of questions since I couldn't make the seminar. Like if they require a psych consult, what is involved in that? A few of the posts mention it and some make it sound like its something hard to do so I'm curious about that. From the first consult until you get scheduled for surgery how long does it take if you are self pay? I know if you go with insurance it can take months and months, but I really don't think my insurance covers it. Thanks, T
wantolose155 0 Posted February 7, 2008 Well I did the seminar, and scheduled my consult the 13th, I guess I will find about the pysch etc appts then...they did say if I self pay and everything is well, I will start my pre op diet on the 14th and surgery 2 weeks later..YEA!! nycm00 0 Posted February 7, 2008 Wow Wantolose, that would be really quick. I have been jumping through insurance hoops for months now. I have my consult with the nutritionist on Friday and hope to have surgery in March. Good luck to you!
TexasT 0 Posted February 7, 2008 Wow Wantalose that does sound fast. There's a part of me that would love to have that happen and another part that thinks I want it to take a little longer. Oh, and where are you going? What doc?
TexasT 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Well tomorrow is the day that will really start things moving. I got an email yesterday to confirm my appointment and it said "Also, it looks good for your insurance benefits and by your attending this diagnostics appointment will meet one of the insurance requirements!" I sure hope they're telling me like it really is. As I filled out all the papers it really made me realize just how many years I've been in this battle. No wonder I'm tired! I hope to hear back from you all as to how your appointments go this week. T
