Mind-bending NSV!!!

Recommended Posts

On the wall in this room is a photo frame with pix from my parents' wedding back in 1953. Hung from the frame is a piece of ribbon with my mother's wedding band attached. (Although my parents' marriage wasn't successful, their wedding was on the lawn of the house where we now live, and this room has a lot of old photos like that.)

My mother stopped wearing her ring when I was about 10 and that's when I first discovered it didn't fit. You can imagine the shame I felt, and since then her ring has always been some sort of talisman that I knew I could never wear. She used to keep it hidden because it was painful for both of us when I would play with it.

Tonight the wedding band caught my eye and I decided to try it on. IT FIT!! It was even LOOSE!! This ring has not fit me in my entire life. Both of my parents, somewhere, are absolutely amazed and delighted. As am I.

Wow. :D

That must be a wonderful feeling to wear that ring. Being able to wear that ring symbolizes that you have reached a milestone that you have strived for your entire life. That must make you feel wonderful! - SO CONGRATULATIONS! I have outgrown both my engagement ring and wedding ring and never considered having them cut or sized. I just put them away hoping one day I would loose enough weight to wear them again. I hoping that day for me will not be in the too distant future.

Alex,

what a wonderful NSV. So precious and real. I too have goosebumbs. It is like something came full circle for you, the ring, the picture, the house and now it fits your hand. May God bless you real good.

Of course that went through my head. I don't know. First I'll have to have it cleaned, and then I might wear it on my right hand. It would be so cool to have that with me all the time.

Hi Alexandra,

That is way cool Eventually, I will have to get my rings resized. I am wearing my wedding band in my middle finger and my diamond ring on the middle finger right hand. Been too lazy to go and get them sized properly!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
