I do have the pureed food worked out (I have an 8 month old, so Im taste testing all his food)...Please I would love any bodys help on this.

Soups... I used Tomato Soup, pea Soup, Soups with no "chunks". Has your doctor had you meet with a dietician? I had to have a dietary consult before my surgery and that's when they told me all the things I could eat at each phase.

Ah, just found my list.... under "liquids" i was allowed light yogurt (no fruit, etc), sugar free pudding, custards, strained cream soups, cream of wheat/rice thinned with lots of milk, broths, Protein drinks, fruit smoothie, sugar free popsicles & Jello. Water, sugar free drinks (non-carbonated) and Decaf tea/coffee. Of course, then after surgery when I asked when I could have my caffeine back, dr's nurse said "who said you couldn't have caffeine??".... Uh... the dietician!!?? So I'd take that "decaf" with a grain of salt. Best of luck to you!

My dietition told me to stick to 64 grams of Protein and 64 oz of fluids minimum...I lived on instant Breakfast no sugar added version with extra Protein Powder added; Tomato Soup made with milk instead of Water. My Dr also sell the health wise products which aren't bad. I tried the adkins advantage shakes and the slim fast no carb and hated them both..I planned a taste testing with peolple in my pre-op support group to see what we liked..what I liked other people hated and vice versa. Also different doctors have differnt versions of their liquid diets..I was not allowed yogurt and cream of wheat until week 4. check with your doctor on what they allow. also try many differnt products.

My doc's definition of Clear liquids was exactly that. Anything you can see through, you can have. So I drank a lot of chicken broth and clear juices on the clear liquid diet.

Then it was on to the full liquid diet, which he said would consist of any creamy Soups that had no chunks, so I drank a lot of Campbell's Soup at hand, and if any of them had chunks in them, I whizzed them up with a hand blender before I drank them. Yogurt smoothies were good at this stage, too. I also got to start on Protein shakes during this stage, but I don't like them, and didn't drink many.

On the mushy stage, I had refried Beans, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, grits, tuna salad, stuff like that.

Hope this helps!

I was banded on Monday and am on a low fat full liquid diet, which includes sf Jello, sf carnation instant breakfast, strained cream of mushroom or cream of chicken, egg drop Soup, broth or bouillon Protein Shakes, or sf ice pops. The meal size is only 1/4 cup. I can also have 30-40oz of clear non caloric liquids such as Water, crystal light, diet snapple, Decaf coffee or tea. I guess the swelling is going down because I am hungry today!

With Soups I add a dash of one of my favourite condiment, and I have LOTS of favorites. Just a small spoon of BBQ Sauce, or worcestershire, or chili, or hot sauce can give plain old chicken Soup some zing and keep it interesting.

During this time I was also allowed to crush crackers into my soup. I make my own crackers out of grated parmesan. I drop a tablespoonful onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper and flatten them out. Then I stick it under the grill until it's melted and/or turning crispy. Take them out and let them harden/cool and pop one into the cup of soup. Or dunk it like a cookie. :)

With mushies I tried a lot of different vegetable mash combos. My favorite there was carrot and parsnip (they look like white carrots) or rutabaga and butternut squash. The key there is to add spices of choice. It can also be different seasonings or garlic or onion salt. I never used to be big on herbs and seasonings, but I've become quite fond of them. I have black pepper on practically everything now.

Hi all, thankyou so much for your help. I craved in last night and eat a bit of homemade pie, I had done 8 days of the 2 weeks liquid and I just broke, I feel so bad, but Im sure that Im not the only one that had done this, well I hope not anyway.

No you're not the only one. I remember soon after surgery I got so hungry for actual food in my mouth that I popped a mouthful of chicken or something in there and chewed it to a pulp. Then I felt too guilty and scared to swallow it so spat it out in the garbage. :) Then I worried that I was going to become bulimic or something. :) Don't beat yourself up. :Banane34:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
