I wore pants the first few weeks after surgery, ones with looser, or non constrictive waist bands, it hurt like hell when I wore jeans 2 weeks out of surgery. I have worn pantyhose as I am required to dress professionally as well. Just pull them up a bit higher than where your stitches are. The idea I had was to not put pressure on the incision areas. Even now, just over a month out, if the jeans aren't resting on the right spot of my waist, bam, it hurts.

I haven't had a reason to wear tights or pantyhose yet, but I do wear jeans everyday. I began wearing them 5 days post-op with no problems. Until then, I simply wore loose, soft pants with loose waistbands (sweat pants and such). I also wore a nightgown to bed instead of pajama pants.

I didn't have any problems with clothes. The distance from my waist to the incisions are considerable. I guess its just where I'm so tall.

Tight pants - well, I'm personally not a fan of fat people in tight pants, so I never wear them. Won't be able to help on that one.

Pantyhose - I don't wear them. If I'm wearing a skirt that's above mid-calf it's on a casual day. If it's longer, hose aren't needed. If I'm wearing slacks I'm either barefoot in my heels or I will use a knee-high or trouser sock.

Jeans - I began wearing jeans as soon as my staples were removed, which was 1 week post-op.

My surgeon didn't say that I couldn't wear pantyhose, but I think he might be taken aback if I showed up in them. :rolleyes:

:eek::)

Have you tried to wear Spanx? I think they are less restricting then pantyhose. (I don't know about after being banded though.)

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
