REDGIRL 0 Posted February 4, 2008 I WAS BANDED 9/5/07 AND I EXERCISED FOR 1 MONTH AND JUST KINDA STOPPED WHEN IT GOT COLD. SO HERE I AM 5 MONTHS LATER AND HAVEN'T LOST BUT 29LBS SO FOR. IF I START WALKNG, WILL IT HELP? MY GOAL IS TO BE ABLE TO JOG SOMEDAY. BUT DO I START OFF WALKING A WHILE FIRST? OR CAN I JUST GO STRAIGHT TO JOGGING? I KNOW THAT I AM GETTING TIRED OF THIS SLOW WEIGHT LOSE, DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD BE THE ANSWER?
VegasGrace 1 Posted February 4, 2008 Go for it! Start jogging...if that doesn't work for you try brisk walking and jog when you can for a few steps. You are doing way better than me, I don't exercise a bit.
rharriet62 0 Posted February 4, 2008 Hi! Yep! Go for it! Walk at a brisk pace and then jog for a bit and interval back and forth during your workout. It will help you get a great sweat up and I found that when I started running, I also started walking faster during my walking phases. You can either measure it by the numbers on a treadmill or just do it based on how you feel...how out of breath you are. I know for me, when I add in running, I lose at a better rate. GO FOR IT! OH Juli 15 Posted February 5, 2008 You need to walk before you run. Read up on it so you don't over do it and hurt yourself. Start slowly and you should be fine. I run now, it took a few months of increasing the amount I ran between walking. But yeah jogging will help you lose the weight.

Paulax 8 Posted February 6, 2008 I agree with joining a program like Learn to Run. I am in my 3rd week of a 10K training program. The programs are developed by the best doctors in the field and are designed to get you training injury free. I also want to encourage you on the plateau. Know that, this too shall pass..... eventually...... as frustrating they can be. Keep your food clean, recommit to exercise, keep your fills current and the plateaus will pass. I hit one for 6 months. I recommitted myself to clean eating, got a small fill, hired a personal trainer and bam, the scale started moving. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. Paulax 8 Posted February 6, 2008 hey Paulax where is that program? I ran 5 miles on Sunday and it wasnt to bad... i think i might be ready to move up I live in BC, Canaderrrrrrrrrrrrrr, so I joined the online program for the Vancouver Sun Run. Well laid out and easy to follow. I did it in 1997, and I have the shirt to prove it. I am now training with my daughter and in spite of the snow and icy conditions, it is a great program and I am excited. Absolutely, you should do a 10K program. I kinda wish I had found a 5K lol! But so far, so good. I will be joined by about 50,000 of my close friends and running partners in Vancouver on April 18.
Paulax 8 Posted February 6, 2008 Ha, yesterday, I was training at the gym and Kayne West's song STRONGER came on. It kind of made me giggle, but was very fitting to the activity. 4jin 0 Posted February 13, 2008 I have to say yes! it will definitely help.... Since I was banded on 2/4/08 I have lost 16 lbs as of today 2/13/08. I have been walking 30 minutes per day.
hazeleyegrl1 0 Posted February 13, 2008 ANY kind of exercise is better then no exercise at all. I now workout on my elliptical, but when first banded 9/14/07 i started out walking.... it may sound silly, but i would walk for a lil while and then i would jog the length between 2 mail boxes...then walk some more, and then jog again the length between 2 mail boxes...lol....obviously i was just walking in my neighborhood....but eventually got up to were i was walking/jogging 3miles a day, 3 times a week....and the weight AND the inches started to slowly move downward....nothing miraculously over night or anything, but the scale was definitely moving....plus, i could feel myself firming up a bit and people started to notice my weightloss more. GOODLUCK with whatever you decide to do, but definitely decide to exercise! even if its a richard simmons video tape from the 80's! some exercise is better then none! xoxo, christie
