"Thinking" myself out of it!

Recommended Posts

I have an appointment for my Psych evaluation at 3:00 this afternoon. I keep thinking that maybe I shouldn't even go. What if I go to all these appointments, have the surgery and it fails? What if I don't lose any weight? Do I really want to have this "thing" inside me for the rest of my life? Like, I can't imagine being 80 years old living with a lap band. ya know? I watch the success stories on Youtube and know the lifestyle I have to adapt to after having it and I'm excited about it. Then the doubts creep in. Were all of you 100%, no doubts, "know it's gonna work" minded before you had yours? I've failed at losing weight so many times, I almost feel like I'm doomed before I start!

I have to jump in here, as I was a very fearful, pre op patient. I even thought of jumping off the op table minutes before. I am so glad I didn't.

I wanted to report to you that I just hit goal this weekend. I know in my heart that I would not have lost this 105 pounds in 18 months, or ever, had I not had the courage to go through with this surgery.

I am forever grateful.

Good luck in your decision, but I can attest that it has given me a beautiful outlook on life and much confidence that with this band, I will keep this weight off.

what your feeling is normal weve all had thoughts like that. but you have to do what your heart tells you. if you dont take the risk of doing it you might regret it! i did it and ive lost 42 pounds so far in 7 weeks. and i feel so much better. dont worry about when your 80 and living with the band. cause if you think about it by that time you will be so used to the band and how to eat. you wont even think that you have a band. but you gotta think about today. you obviously are unhappy and unhealthy with the weight you are now, so do something about it. this band isnt a miracle cure but it will help you eat better. and make healthier choices in food and help you with the weight loss and you will feel so much better with yourself. i mean ive only loss 42 pounds so far but i have more energy i am able to play with the kids with out getting tired and i sleep better. i have sleep apnea but its not as bad as it was before. but you also have to incorporate the exercise in to to help lose the weight. you can do it . we all wonder about the what ifs. but if you dont take that risk later on down the road youll regret it. especially health wise.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
