LBT Official Cookbook?

Recommended Posts

Here's an idea I've been throwing around in my head.

What if we all contributed our favorite recipes, and then I typed them up into a cookbook. Then I could have them printed and bound and we'd each have one (you'd just pay the cost of printing/binding/shipping, I'm not out to make money, just compile your recipes ).

I've done this with a couple of my other internet groups, and I ADORE those books! It's great to have a book with recipes that you know people have tried and enjoyed, not just crap people made up to fill a book, kwim?

They wouldn't be anything fancy by any stretch of the imagination, just your typical fundraiser cookbooks, paper with a plastic binding.

If there's enough interest, I'll start another thread with the details. If not, I'll go back to my cave. :frown:

That's a neat idea....just don't know though. I eat regular foods, even out of regular cookbooks. I just have to be mindful of things I can't tolerate.

If there was a cookbook for Lapband, I'd pick it up for sure, just out of curiosity.

Wow, what a terrific idea! My house-husband was just saying today how hard it is to choose what to make for dinner for me!

Love, it--count me in!! :)

Sounds good to me too. I haven't been banded yet, but I'd buy one.

Eating banded to me, is eating just like I did before (when it comes to cooking recipes), but in way smaller portions. Some online recipe places let you place in a custom serving size and it adjusts all the measurements accordingly.

I think this would be a great idea!! I know that I do cook regular things too, but to have an option to see what other heathly ways people cook things or idea's they have tried. For example I don't like Bell Peppers ( I know strange) so I always substitute with Aspraghas or other vegies.

Count me in.

Well, lets do this!

You all start sending me recipes and I'll start compiling them. If there aren't enough recipes/people for an entire book, I'll just send the PDF to whomever contributed and you can just print it out at home.

Does that work for everyone?

Send all your recipes to lbtrecipes@gmail.com

I'll let you know in a few days how many we have! :tongue2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
