I've got the "BREAKFAST BLUES"!!

Recommended Posts

I miss eating Breakfast in the morning. I want to eat, but nothing goes down. I tried eating oatmeal the other day and that was o.k. But I really can't eat in the mornings. I have been really tight for like 2 days and then all of a sudden I could eat today. But not breakfast. But I really get fustrated because I really get hungry around 9 or 10 o'clock and CAN"T EAT!!

What about a liquid breakfast? In Australia we have a product called "up and go" which is essentially a bowl of Cereal and milk in a milk drink form. You could look at having a Meal Replacement shake for breakfast and maybe a piece of fruit? Just til you get into the habit of eating at that time then you could look at other options.

A lot of people are too tight in the mornings for solids (me included). I am rarely hungry in the mornings, but when I am I have a SlimFast shake or a Yoplait Whips Yogurt.

The worst is when someone offers to buy you and your family really expensive brunch. (especially on a sunday morning after you had a couple drinks on saturday) My Dad (doesn't know) brought my husband and I out for brunch at a fancy fancy hotel, and paid nearly $20 a plate for us. At the end of the meal everyone was trying not to stare at me FORCING myself to finish the 1 plate I got. I will never eat brunch again!

I miss eating breakfast in the morning. I want to eat, but nothing goes down. I tried eating oatmeal the other day and that was o.k.
Take a look at the Kashi oatmeals - they have a little Protein (could up it with Protein powder and/or milk) and a good portion of Fiber which might be satisfying. Cottage cheese (I looove the chive flavor) has a similar texture to oatmeal but more Protein - if oatmeal goes down okay, maybe cottage cheese will, too. Or Fage yogurt - lots of protein and really different texture (creamy, not liquid-y - more like sour cream) compared to regular yogurt - I flavor mine with a tiny bit of honey or a squirt of sugarfree Da Vinci Syrup. I get Fage at Trader Joe's or at a local natural foods grocery.

Good luck!

Cereal is the devil since my last fill. Anytime of day, when I try to eat Pops, Life, Muslix, or Cheerios (those are the ones I like), It gets stuck in the first bite and I hurt for a while. Muslix is the same kinda make-up as Kashi Go-Lean cereal...So I just threw all my cereals away. If I keep them around, I try them again every once in a while and hate myself for it!

My port flipped completely backwards & was inaccessible.. so they operated and moved it back around and they moved it to another stable location.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
