What's up everybody? Well, I was approved by my insurance company last Monday for my surgery, & I get banded on 2/13! Anyway, I used to have a CRAZY sex drive, but the bigger I've gotten, the more I've lost my drive. I'm 28 & I'm wondering (moreso from a guys perspective; but definitely am curious about female insight) if the drive comes back w/ the loss of weight & if you are having some of the best sex of your life since you're performing w/ a smaller version of your former self?

OMG! YES..my sex drive has gone through the roof!

This is gonna sound horrible, but I go to like Walmart or something and a cute guy will walk by and I turn and check him out and think Yeah I could totally tap that! lol

So yes drive is through the roof, as for the rest, well I have this personal goal of not attempting to "make up" for lost time while I was fat

Hahaha! That's hilarious. . .I think as a guy the hope is to be able to make up for lost time:lol: Might not be the best thing to do, but hey, I look forward to some incredible passion!

I am still pre-band... And my sex drive has went down a little, but not a lot (and its still really high like 2 or 3 days without it and I feel like I am going to die) so I'm thinking that if it gets better after the band I'll be a nympho LOL

. . .and if anybody tells you being a nympho is a bad thing. . .they must be practicing abstainance!

sex addiction is one thing I wont mind transferring my food addiction for. and since getting my bodybugg it is fun to see how many calories different positions burn.

One more reason for me to buy one of those :) hahaha

I always had a strong sex drive. No real issues there, but DH tells me I appear to be far more confident now than I ever was (in bed that is)

Sex sure is a lot more fun at 107lbs than it was at 297, thats for sure...

That's funny. . .but it's actually a good thought. Lots of options in Bloomington who'd love to take advantage of your addiction w/ you! Plus, managing a sports bar. . .you'll be beating guys away w/ a stick.

This is such a relief to read...my drive has gone waaaaay down along with self confidence and all the other stuff that comes with not liking yourself because you dont think you're attractive anymore. I know my hubby loves me and he assures me that no matter how much I weigh he'll always want to be with me. So that's definitely helpful...but there's always that nagging little thing in the back of your head thinking..."how can he even stand to look at me when there are way more attractive specimen out there..." My drive is one thing I'm certainly looking forward to getting back...thanks for the post Indyguydon!

Yeah thats how it is, or at least was before i started to lose weight. It got to the point where i never wanted to have sex, bc i didnt feel sexy. After I started losing and was able to dress nicer and cuter and gain more self confidence, up went my sex drive..this is of course not including the period of my life where I was constantly having sex to make myself feel wanted and pretty...anyways as the weight goes down, dont be surprised if the sex goes up :)

The first 3 months my sex drive was outrageous. But I had to go off of my birth control for surgery, and I have come to realize I think B/C for me is an anti-sex. Heh heh. Since being back on my B/C sex drive died down again.

Kimmie K. . .trust me, if your husband says he loves you & will always want you, you've got a good start. With you being married, at least you do have some security in that you are w/ somebody who already loves you. After you get banded & supermodel-looking guys are stalking you, at least you'll know you're w/ somebody who loved you unconditionally! You guys will probably have some of the wildest days/nights of passion after you get banded & begin to feel good about you again. You're like a good investment. . .he loves you now & will continue to do so, but after you get back to feeling your best, he's gonna get a HUGE pay off!

I've always said that if after losing weight some guy that knew me when I was bigger tries getting with me it would be a nono because if they weren't into me when I was big then I don't want them.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
