UHC....approved!

Recommended Posts

Actually, this IS the new insurance. The last insurance covered the surgery, but became too expensive for my husband's company to keep. I guess that's what I get for waiting. Also, my husband may be getting a new job and I've even looked into the insurance plan at that place - again, no coverage. A direct exclusion. Looks like every path leads to me paying out of pocket. Although my husband is having a cow about the cost, I don't really see it like that. If it means a better future, then it's all worth it. I'd love to get healthier and lose a bunch of weight before my daughter realizes her mommy is FAT.

I have been waiting lots longer than a few days with UHC. My surgery is scheduled already and I know they were questioning my wight history.

I called and it wasnt in the computer yet so the person I spoke to said not to worry just yet.

I never had to get them on the phone but I didn't get my approval till 2 days before. Have you doctors office keep calling but i wouldn't worry yet. My doctors office told me that UHC waits till the last minute...

Actually, I just went through this. The direct number for their Care Coordination Department is 866-365-3701. (not sure if you have that number) And I had been calling every day finally, I got someone who actually helped me. She told me that after the "review" had been in their system for 10 days she could "accelerate" the process so I would have an answer in 24-48 hours. That was done for me Tuesday afternoon and first thing yesterday morning (thursday) I found out I was approved!

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
