Have you cheated???

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I wanted to introduce myself, I'm pretty new to the board. I got banded on 1/24/08. So I just entered the mushie stage yesterday. My question is have any of you cheated, by having a piece of this or a bite of that? I have not done it, but I have considered it. I am getting very tired of these foods, and if I have to have another Protein drink im going to puke! Thanks for the wealth of information here. Any advice or suggestions for a newbie are appreciated.

Thanks!

I was banded on Jan. 25, I started the mushie foods a day early. I had a salad and grilled salmon last night for supper. I did not have any problems. I did suck on a hershey kiss, too! I am so bad, but feel great and have had not problems.

Hi, I was banded october 26th and I have cheated, too~ My doctor makes us do Clear Liquids for three days after each fill and I have never made it the whole three days. I usually do clear liquids for one day then move to soft food for two days and I have been fine.

I sucked on a mini kit kat and it was great. By the way I was banded on the 1/21 by Dr. Marsden, and I have been afraid to eat more than a 1/2 cup of food at a time.

I was banded a little over two weeks ago. Tonight I had a few small, soft meatballs with sauce over them, which technically I wasn't supposed to have for about ten more days. I was just so hungry and sick of the "full liquids." I ate them slowly and cautiously and they went down great! No problems at all. I stayed within appropriate calorie and Protein counts for the day, despite my transgression. I hope it's okay.....I wouldn't have done it sooner, but my body just felt very ready for this step, and it seemed to have managed well!

Yes i have cheated...My body was so dizzy and my leggs would shake all over the place. I did the liquids for about five daya post-op and then went straight to the mushie stage and then kinda of still here...It will be two wweks post-op wednesday....I am still eating/losing but i am not hungry and i needed to go back to work five days after surgery, so i did what i had to do....

Just be careful, but you should be OK. My surgeon wanted liquids only for two weeks! Then mushies for another 2-3 weeks. I have progressed through to some more "standard" foods, but still try to do more mushies than anything. I totally get being over whatever food you are always eating. Just take is nice and slow and don't over do it. Watch the calories, if you are doing well and focusing on your lean Protein you should be OK.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
