Hi Jill,

My case is alittle different, i had a fill in march- but felt that I needed another one. So I scheduled my flight for TJ in Aug, but missed my flight because I forgot my stinking iD at home! I was pissed but- I found out I was pregnant 3 days later and was thanking god that I didnt go!

I have not been officially unfilled- but I pretty much have no restriction.

In my 5th week, I got super tight, so I had .5ccs taken out. It has made a world of difference. I'm able to eat normal food (I had been living on chili and ice cream for two weeks), and my weight is stable. My surgeon thinks I will probably need more unfills as time goes on.

About 7.5 wks in and still have my fill. No morning sickness, no problems getting food down. Will be keeping my eyes open & senses alert tho.

i did not vote, because i have not had an unfill yet, but i am undecided.

my problem is my doctor's office seems to think that i should have no problems going on eating 700 calories per day. my doc/ based on symptoms/ guesses that i am going into my 4th month....and i have lost 25 lbs all the while being pregnant, if that is true.

my ob doctor says i need at least 1500 calories per day. i'm not sure if i'm getting that, and i'm trying to decide what to do. my bp and blood sugar just stabilized and i would hate to hurry up and put the weight back on and then have to deal with those problems again.

army..you are right. i actually went for an unfill last week, and the doctor was actually upset that i had not come sooner. his staff told me it wasn't necessary. ha!!

i'm eating 1500 calories now. although, i am drinking orange juice..it is the only thing that i'm craving.

Called my surgeon's office this week just to dbl checked and they confirmed that as long as morning sickness isn't an issue and I'm able to meet caloric guidelines, the fill can stay. So far my OB doesn't have an issue with what I'm eating or the amount of weight I've lost. In fact I'm up 3# in fluids, because I'm making myself drink more Water than I normally do and the increase hasn't adjusted out yet. I can eat & eat & eat... if I do it at night.

I think it all has to be seen in perspective. Since posting here that I'm knocked up, I've gotten several encouraging messages, and about 3 "hate mails" telling me how horrible I am for still having a fill, how I would deserve a miscarriage for starving my baby, how I should have the baby taken away from me, etc. That's so absurd. People with bypass have babies all the time, I know 3 personally, all of their babies are healthy (one is now 4 y/o) and if they're doing it right, a bypass patient isn't going to eat more than we can with a little effort. But WLS aside - we aren't the only ones who eat 1000 - 1200 calories a day. The BMR for the average build, females around 29, is 1200 - 1400. Granted that's BMR, so just factor in the difference and it's really not "super" different. You don't have to gain excessive fat during pregnancy to have a healthy baby. (So all you haters, stop sending me messages because I haven't gained 20 lbs @ 9wks.)

wow, that is awful. i haven't gotten any hate messages, but i haven't posted much outside of the pregnancy board. i'm told not to go over 1500 calories, regardles. so, i'm trying to follow it.

i'm maintaining now, i lost 5 lbs one day and was down to 201, but it was back last time i weighed..so whatever that was....lol, but i've been a 206 for a couple of weeks now.

Fluctuations are normal. I can easily fluctuate 8 lbs without changing anything. Just focus on the overall, or a non-scale measurement if you have one.

So, you were banded Oct 2007 and you got pg almost right after your surgery? I am not sure I read correctly. The reason I ask is because I got banded in Oct. 07 and have been wanting to get prego. I am 33 and have only one child (7 yrs old).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
