OMG Pat---you brought tears to my eyes!! You look amazing! The thought that I might actually look "normal" again, has always just been a dream. As was the weight loss to be honest. Now the majority of the weight is gone, but I am left with this skin, and yes some fat under the skin, and it just hangs, and leaves this huge bubble bulge under all my clothes. I am tall, so finding shirts long enough to cover it is a challenge----I just feel deformed. In a way it was less deformed feeling when I was fat, it blended in. Now I have no hips left, my legs are pretty thin---I would be ok with me, if I did not have this belly issue---and it is NOT a minor issue. It is deflated enough that if I try wearing snug jeans, it bulges around the seams, and makes me look like I have an ass on my front! Now how is that for a visual???

Yep your pics solidify it---I am seeing a Dr. THIS week! TY for sharing with us....

HUGS~~

Kat

Pat, I only wish mine was no worse than that--hell I would be happy with that as an after!! Mine hangs----I can pick it up and manipulate it--roll it up, squish it----it is truly indescribably FUGLY!

You did get beautiful results though---I am so happy for you!

Thank you Kat, but it was horrible to me, I just wish the TT had lifted my inner thighs just a tad, just enough to pull the skin a little tighter ;),

So glad it's behind me and looking forward to getting out of these compression garments and to stop itching, LOL.

Gooooo PATS hahaha Sorry Eileen....we're from NE so we're NE fans. It's certainly going to be a good game though. I just can't stand all the yelling the guys do...what the heck for? Not like anyone really cares or will it change something but, they yell all the same. I guess I'm just not an excitable person for football games anyway hahaha *wink*

I typed a few things but, decided not to post it.....the guys made me upset last night...trying to get over it but, when I type it I get more bothered by it so I'm trying to just let it go. You ever have those days where you're completely thrown off by something? Lets just say...if I could afford it, I'd be paying attention to ME and pamper myself with a nice, relaxing massage. Yeap I need to be practicing my Reiki today....only I can make my day a good one....my day is what I reflect. (Oh yea even the Reiki Master has to practice this stuff and it's not always easy!)

Anyway Pat you really do look great. I can't wait to see pictures when you're all healed up. I had heard it takes a few months for the swelling to go completely down in the tummy area. What did your doc tell you? Just curious.

Gotta hit the shower.....read a book for an appointment I have tomorrow with a "Life coach". It's a project I'm helping my Reiki Master/Chiropractor (yeap she's both lol) with. She's taught some coaches who now need students/clients to learn with. Yeap I'm a guinea pig but, I'll be learning more on how to help others too in the meantime :) Also have a little running around to do today too before the game.

Have a great day everyone. Love you!

i too look much worse than you did Pat. I'm looking into surgery, but it will be a long way off. $$$ is my big issue. I don't think insurance will pay for it, and I don't have the money for it right now. ~Mandy

Mandy, Insurance will usually pay for at least the apron removal if you have issues with skin rashes and irritations in the folds. I believe for most insurances there has to be documented occurances of it and then they will at least pay for the removal. People then opt to pay the extra for the TT part. Not sure sure on the breast lift...don't think that would be covered but, I can tell ya the same thing happens with the skin there too so it might be possible. When it comes time for me I'll certainly ask about that lol. Might as well get the whole thing done if I'm going to go under anyway  We'll see though because I'm going to want to wait until I can pay for the TT portion too.

Mandy, I'm surprised, for some reason, I thought you had already had a TT, maybe it's because you look so good .

Well ladies, drum roll please, I finally weigh below...nobody's listening are they...150, 149 to be exact. Maybe I'm not giving my ps enough credit, maybe he took off alot more lbs than I realized..big smile here.

Still have Fluid, so I hopefully will be down a little more, if not, it's just a number, the way I feel is more important. Thanks to a little pep talk from someone dear to me last night, not mentioning any names SW, but I do feel great.

Taking mom to lunch, TTYL

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
