LOL--but you can make some adjustments!!! Instead of wearing your lightweight flip flops, wear something like heavy Doc Martins sandals---mine I had were heavy---I seriously bet they would bump you 3 pounds on their own!!!

You can always drop some weight---a roll of quarters is what I have heard of people using down the bra!!!

Even if you wear say capri's make them heavier denim, and wear a belt, with a heavy buckle---every few ounces, leads to the next pound!

Do some practice runs, see how much you can add, by little things, a bangle Bracelet, some big earrings!! Keep piling it on!!!

LOL

So now I'm in a weird state. I started logging everything I ate and drinking more Water. As a result of that, I've lost 4 lb! I'm in a bit of a panic since I haven't had my initial consult and weigh in with my surgeon and I'm getting perilously close to being under 40 BMI. Between getting measured an inch taller the last two times I was at the doctors and losing 4 lb., I'm down to 41.3 and my appointment is still 1 month out!

Last night before I went to bed, I had an extra bowl of Cereal with milk just because. I was going to start working out or maybe take a yoga class because I can tell I'm not exercising as much as I did when I was ice skating regularly but now I'm afraid to.

How crazy is that?!

Hey, all!

So... I was the dude who started this whole thread, and it was pretty hilarious to see that almost 2 months later it's still going strong! I thought I was the only one facing this problem, but wow... Seems like a pretty big issue!

Well, just wanted to share with everyone that I had my weigh-in for the consultation. I did gain a few pounds to try to get my BMI over 40, but I wasn't quite there by my bathroom scale here at home, so I was a little nervous. What I didn't anticipate, though, was that I was actually so nervous about the appointment itself (issues for another post) that I wasn't too concerned about the weigh-in part... Didn't do any major water-drinking beforehand or attempt to use weights or anything.

As it turns out, the girl who weighed me didn't really care that I had jeans and a sweatshirt on, and when she measured my height it was actually about 3/4" shorter than I thought (I guess I've always measured my height with sneakers on...) So, it worked out! LOL

Anyway, LOOOONG story short, I met the criteria for weight for the insurance company! YAY!

While I can't say that it's a good thing necessarily that I'm now considered in the "high health risk" obesity category, it is good that I meet the criteria for my insurance company. :-)

Thanks to all who have posted on this thread, and keep it goin'!

Nick

I am at a position where I am just over 40bmi and am afraid to try to lose any weight at all for fear of dropping below 40. Of course now that I think about it, that is when I have no clothes or shoes on. With my clothes on I am closer to 41-42. But yes, if it meant whether I got approved or not I would gain some back.

So I had my consultation yesterday. I was so nervous I brought a huge half gallon tub full of froot loops and milk in the car with me and ate the whole thing on my way ahahaha. When I got there he measured me at 5'2! I'm been going around this whole time I was 5'1, so I was like, CRAP!!!! But that giant bowl of Cereal must have helped a little cause I weighed in at 223, which gave me a BMI of 41, so now I'm on my way!!! WOOHOO!!!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
