Whats up with pasta?

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I received my 2nd fill last week and do (Thank God) have restriction. It seems I cannot tolerate Pasta. I had a lean cuisine today for lunch(fettucinne & chicken) and had about three bites and spent the next 30 minutes sliming and if I understand it correctly PBing. Not fun.

Anyone else with that problem,

Thanks,

Michelle:rolleyes:

I just don't know what's up with Pasta....

but I experience the same thing...no matter how tiny or microscopic I cut the pieces.

I hate blowing my nose and spaghetti comes out!

Oh well.

I can rarely eat Pasta. rice sometimes does the same thing. I think it swells in your pouch or something. I just figured it was one of the foods I was passionate about and so now...giving it up. I probably ate enough pasta pre-band to last me a lifetime anyway!

They used to make wallpaper paste out of flour and Water . . . just look at the word "pasta" which means paste in Italian.

It turns to a sticky glommy goo in your stomach and is very effective in stopping up your stoma. Try spaghetti squash or rice instead.

I could only eat Pasta if mixed with Protein in the same bite. It helped change up the texture so it didn't get so Gummy.< /p>

I'm tight enough now that I don't want to try it. I wouldn't touch bread on a dare right now

This was given to me as one of the foods to avoid along with bread, donuts, french fries, and sodas.

Hmmm... I almost ate that same one today but ended up going out for a sandwich. I'm curious now how I'll do with it. So far I can still eat bread and had spaghetti the other day with no problem. I'm at 2.4 fill in a 4cc band.

I was told to stay away from Pasta and Rice as these swell in our stomachs and that is not good for our small pouch......I have had none since surgery.....Yes I love both Pasta and rice....but I love becoming thinner MORE!!

So I do not need these foods.

I've never had a problem eating Pasta. I eat it all, rigatone, ravioli, whatever I want! Pasta e Fagioli is my favorite, I eat that a few days after I have a fill done.

I, too, am having lots of trouble with Pasta. Since it globs up in our stoma because of the gluten, I thought I'd experiment with gluten free pasta. WOW!!:) It tastes very good, and goes down with no problem. I've used it with my kids and they can't tell the difference.

Oh my Gosh!! No more Spaghetti? I may have to re-think this lap band thing!!

Oh you so don't have to do that, I've replace my Pasta fix by making Spaghetti Squash or Soba / Tofu Noodles. I swear, as a serious Pasta eater...these are great alternatives.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
