How long should I be staying full? More questions...

Recommended Posts

Do you go by your scale or your doctors scale? Can your weight be 4-5 pounds heavier with clothes on and at night?

On my 1 month appointment I was 305 in the am with no clothes on and at 2:00 pm at the doctors office the same day I was 309 with clothes on and again the same (309) when I checked at home later the same day. What is that about?? So according to his scale I have lost 21 lbs but on my scale I have lost 25lbs - which do I go by??

Your weight can change hourly, that is why it is so important not to become so dependant on your scale. We have a thread going for weighing each monday. The majority of us weigh once a week and see better results. You can drive yourself crazy weighing so many times a day. And, yes it does make a difference with clothes and without. Give it a try to weigh once a week and see how you do.

How long you stay full depends on if you have had a fill or not. If you haven't had a fill, liquids go right through, once you start eating Protein, you should stay full for about 3-4 hours or longer.

Once at my behavior modification group I weighed my self before and after, on the same scale, and there was a 2 lb difference. I drank 16 oz of Water during the group meeting. I couldnt believe it showed up like that.

I would go by the Dr office. I know that my scale at home is 2 lbs less than the office, so I just adjust like that.

Don't fret over it, your weight flucuates a couple of pounds all the time. The difference between morning and night, how much salt you consumed, how much fluids you have taken in, what time of month it is. I even wonder if it has anything with the Moon. It is the over all picture need to keep in mind. Hide your house scale, give it to some else in your house to hide. My son hides mine in his room,he's 17 I respect him to much to go into his room if he is not home. (I have dug through it when he was)

Most scales differ by a few pounds. Just weigh yourself at the same time and on the same scale each time. Your clothes can add a couple pounds. A pair of my old 28 jeans probably weighed 10 pounds!

I weigh myself every day, but I only write my weight down once a month.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
