can hiccuping cause a slip??

Recommended Posts

I cannot stop hiccuping! I called my doctor's office and they told me not to drink anything cold (no way can i tolerate a warm Protein shake) I am 15 days post op. I have also read that it can be from drinking too fast or distension- well when i wake up in the morning the first thing i do is hiccup- way before i have anything!!

maybe my nerves are still locally irritated from the surgery- i hope this gets better! The hiccups arent very violent or anything so I dont think they should cause a problem but I guess I am just looking for reassurance!

As far as I know I do not have a slipped band, and I have been hiccupping since day one. Some times it is mild, but I have to tell you sometimes they are harsh and they hurt. Some have even caused me to PB. Gross! Anyway, I have no real answer but will keep my eye on the responses because now I'm concerned too!

I hiccup ALL the time. Before I eat, while I eat, after I eat, pretty much any time of the day, I'll hiccup. Usually it's 3 or 4 times, other times, it will go on for a few minutes. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I wonder if the nerve that causes that has some pressure on it from the band, or something. I told my doc about it, and he wasn't concerned about it, so I'm not, either.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
