Getting Closer to Banding Day!!

Recommended Posts

So I had to get to a certain weight before my ins co would approve my banding. Well, at weigh-in yesterday at the Dr. I made it!!! They are calling the ins co today or tomorrow to finalize the approval. I have to have a GI Scope first(Feb 15), so I'll be out of work for a day for that, then I'm ok for banding. I hope to have that date in a week!! I'm getting fustrated on how long this has taken (been about 14 months since I started this). Dr hs requested that I continue to lose a pound a week (ugh!), and has said I will be out of work for 4 weeks (because I do a bit of lifting -computers). The Boss wasn't happy about that!! Oh well! Thanks for listening!!

I thought that i would do banding within the same month I started my paperwork and stuff..lol but still waiting on my doctor to write a letter and submit paper work to the surgeon. I've already been to the seminar, dietician and the therapist. I guess its taking my doctor awhile to do the paper work cuz he told me "the lapband doesnt work" lol asshole. He better hurry with the stuff. I am hoping I can have it now at end of Feb early march. As far as my job. I got 3 weeks of pto still, and I should be able to return to work. I just stand for long periods of time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
