Protien mix samples

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where online or in a store where I can get free/ low cost samples of the different protien supps? I don't want to commit to a $20 container without trying first if possible!

Also, what are your favorites?

I love unjury... the chocolate flavor... they have samples, but they cost something (like 1.25)... look online unjury.com... and see what they have. If you call them they might send out samples free... can't hurt to call

BariatricEating.com sells a sample package that has a bunch of different samples and a shaker bottle. If you get the one without the book (the book's aimed mostly at RNY patients), it costs about $32, I think.

I ordered a bunch of Protein Powder samples right before my surgery from Vitalady.com - Protein supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks! It is a great way to sample them and then go buy what you really like. I think I paid about $1.50 or a bit more for each sample, but after all, it was my whole meal, so really that isn't bad at all. I kept the order printout with the samples and wrote next to each one after drinking it whether I hated, liked or loved it.

If you go to GNC and keep your receipt, they will take back the whole jug and refund your money if you don't like it. I specifically asked that when I purchased the Isopure. I wasn't sure about the low carb, low fat powder with 45g Protein, thought it would take bad.

You can also get Designer whey Protein to go packs for about $1.25 to try. Those you mix in with a bottle of Water and get about 10g of protein.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Do they make any protien whey powders that dissolve into any liquid and are clear and tasteless? I'm looking for something to add to anything, and, basically, not be able to know it's there-

Unjury has an unflavored Protein powder. I wouldn't say that you can't tell it's there, but it is definately not bad. YOu can order a sample of it from their website as well. I have been pleased with unjury powder.

We have an HEB Market here (kind of like a very upscale HEB), they have an entire section of Protein powders and bars and such, they had LOTS of samples, I paid 100-225 per sample - and I am glad I did, I have found a couple that I couldn't even finish. Yuck! I have been trying the bars, some are awesome and some, what were they thinking!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
