I'm looking into getting the lapband and was wondering if anyone has it done in Massachusetts. Where and with who?

I will be having it done at Beth Israel Deaconess, in just two weeks...at this point in the process, I can highly recommend them. Ask me again after Feb 12th.

I have just begun the process and am going through the Emerson Hospital in Concord. It seems like they are very thorough. Make you eat high Protein low carbs for at least 4 weeks before they even will consider you. I was hungry for the first two weeks but I think in the long run it will help you to be successful. Good luck.

Dr. Fialo is the one I am looking to go to. How have you been doing since?

lfein229........I feel good, I look good. What else can I say? I've had no problems. I like Dr. Fiallo and his staff alot. I'm down about 68 pounds since I started this adventure in June. Lost 20 pounds pre-op and the balance post-op. I love my band!

Did it take awhile for his office to contact you? I've been waiting a call now for almost 2 weeks since I attended the seminar.

If I remember they called me within a few days of the seminar. Maybe you should call them. It can't hurt. Have you decided which doctor you want? Dr. Fiallo is who my primary doctor recommended and I did research on him so I went with him, I don't know much about Dr. Haag but I hear he too is excellant. I don't think you can go wrong with either. The support groups they have, both pre-op and post-op are wonderful too.

Hi everyone in Mass. I saw the name of this tread and had to come look. I grew up in West Springfield and my family still lives there and in Boston....I now live in Texas and I get sooooooo homesick. How is the weather there???? I miss the cold and the snow and the changing leaves and... my family. Don't get home often enough.....best wishes to you all......Julie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
