SeattleGirl 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Hello everyone... I am New to this and getting banded tomorrow...pretty scared right now... hoping that I am making a smart choice. I just pray that this works for me... I would hate to be disappointed. My insurance did not cover this, so I am especially frightened of the financial impact this could have if I have complications i.e. slipping, erosion. I was told to "chat" here and it looks like a great website that I hope to visit often and hopefully in a few months I will be sharing success stories too!! Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks! LSF 264 Posted January 31, 2008 I'm curious, how come your insurance would not cover it? I'm looking to get the lap-band and am waiting for the surgical consult.

JaxBandster 11 Posted January 31, 2008 Wouldn't pay because I didn't have long enough documentaion of Physician supervised weight loss attempts It's probably a bit too late to be asking this now, but how long do they require? Good luck on your surgery tomorrow!! I am one week behind you!!! They should give us a tranquilizer to take the night before surgery. I know I will be nervous as well. :tt1: You will do great! Write and let us know how you are doing!

Hi SeattleGirl! Wishing you luck with your surgery tomorrow and a speedy recovery. Don't feel lonley either about being scared, I was a complete basket case the night before my surgery!:tt1: But now I am 9 days postop, and doing great so far. (JaxBandster you are right, they should give us something to take the night before for the anxiety. Preferably to knock us out until after the surgery!) Keep coming back to "chat". yellowroseaz 0 Posted February 1, 2008 Hi! I am still in the research process. I called my ins. on the phone and they said they would cover it. But know I think I will call them again and ask further questions. I am scared already. But after the research and this forum I believe I can and will do it soon. Good luck to you and keep us posted. LiseSeattle 0 Posted March 4, 2008 Congrats on your amazing success so far! I'm in your shoes when you wrote the original post - I'm getting banded tomorrow morning...self-pay and very nervous. But - excited at the same time. Where did you go to have your surgery? I live in seattle but am going to everett (northwest weight loss surgery). Ugh - only 3.5 hours until no food/liquids until after surgery! lise
tarrn13 1 Posted March 4, 2008 hiya seattle girl, i too am in the city and getting banded on the 25th of march, going to mexico as i am a self pay, i think that if you respect and take care of yourself pre and post op, you will minimize your risk of complications. Look forward to hearing all about everyone's experiences, and getting to share mine.
