PMS with band

Recommended Posts

The one thing that really changed for me, I've been breaking out REALLY BAD during my TOM.

Up until 1 year ago, I never got my cycle. Sounds crazy, but after I left my husband, 3 weeks later I started getting it again on a 4-6 schedule.

Since I got the band I've been on a 4 week schedule.

Oh yeah, I've also been getting REALLY moody when I'm ovulating. I get very depressed, crying all the time, then I get really nasty...I should talk to my doctor about this.

a little off topic of all of this talk but is everyone rugular still I have always been very regular for the (T.O.M.) and wandered if that continued after being banded. I am wanting to have it done and wasnt sure if any of that was efected. Still young and want to have kids still.

My TOM is still regular after surgery. I am less than 3 months post-op though.

I have very little restriction during PMS and then GREAT restriction during TOM. I actually lose weight now during TOM because I eat so little.

My Dr said that when you lose alot of weight that your body produces/absorbs its hormones differently. Women not having periods start having them. He even said that monthly symptoms might change.

Ohh my gosh, ladies. I am so opposite. I know when I am about to have TOM visit because my band get's so tight. I have to basically do liquids a day or two before and a day or so into it. I have always had cravings during that time so I really can't say if it's worse since being banded or not, but know I just cant indulge. My fill dr. told me that I might get tighter and I sure enough do. I also do not do fills the week of TOM. The worst part is not only to I have PMS but I have a liquid diet to go with it.

I'm glad to read this thread! I'm having TOM right now and I've been munching and wanting chocolate. I've indulged a little and been mad at myself for it. It should be over soon though, so hopefully I'll go back to normal.

ok, i am SOO very happy to have found this thread!! my TOM is next week and today i found myself able to eat more and more and feeling practically NO RESTRICTION!

here's the other thing....i'm scheduled for a fill tomorrow!! AND...today when i weighed i had a 2lb GAIN!!! i am almost sure its bc i'm ovulating and have bloating, etc...typical symptoms....BUT, i really do not want to put off my fill.....

whats the worse that could happen if i get a fill tomorrow instead of waiting until after my TOM???

anyone know? this is literally the first i have ever heard of ppl saying they can eat more w/less restriction during TOM! again, i'm happy to have found this thread....i feel much better knowing i'm not the only one and i had no idea it would be related to my TOM at all! thanks for posting this one!

xoxo, christie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
