But I have a question once the cervix is scraped or whatever does the HPV stuff go away ?? I have a friend with HPV

No there is no 'cure for HPV. HPV never goes away once you have it. That is what my GYN told me. The symptoms if you have any may go away and it will lay dormant but it never actually goes away.

I tested positive for HPV back in 1999 and had the colposcopy. The GYN used a solution sort of like lemon juice to burn out the cells. I didn't really feel it, and I bled for a day or so, just wore a pad, and took antibiotics. The cells came back negative and for the first year, had a GYN visit 2x, and since, annually and have been normal.

For those who were asking...dysplasia and HPV has nothing to do with being overweight. Human Papilloma Virus is a sexually transmitted disease and it's not biased against obesity. It can affect anybody, fat or thin.

Back in 1997 while pregnant with my first baby, I was diagnosed with mild dysplasia, had the biopsy and LEEP procedure and all was well for 9 years with completely normal PAPs. After having my baby 6 months ago, I got another abnormal reading and I have to go back for biopsy again. This time it's even more severe dysplasia than before so I'm sure I'll need another LEEP. It recurs almost all the time. Some women get lucky and it never recurs. Just depends.

From the patients I had, no the coloposcopy doesn't really hurt, it's just uncomfortable. The Leep is a little more uncomfortable, but it was an in office procedure, and the patients went back to work the following day. I personally have had the coloposcopy and it really doesn't hurt. I guess by the time you read this you will already know the answer to your question. I am sorry I didn't respond earlier.

Depends on who you ask to how much pain they say it is. Some say not too much some say alot. Most physicians allow you to take minor pain meds before the procedure like tylenol. Some will let you have lortab which comes in liquid for post banders, post procedure. If not banded can get in pills too. Yes, HPV can go away if procedure is done. Gardasil vaccines can be given to younger ppl even AFTER having clean paps following the dysplasia, biopsies and procedures. But only after the paps come back normal. Precautions need to be taken in the meantime or it can still be passed back and forth. Good luck through all of this.

I can't remember which procedure it was that I had a few months ago - but I remember they said they were "freezing" the bad cells. I was high risk, I had borderline ovarian cancer in 2001, (we didn't know until the tumors/ovaries were removed, thankfully).

My procedure wasn't too bad. I didn't take anything for pain, and I would suggest that you do. I cramped so bad during that I couldn't sit still. I bled for about a day and cramped for a few days. I too tested positive for HPV - not a big deal, Dr. said something like 70-80 % of sexually active women have it.

My Dr. was telling me all about her staff having lapband during the procedure - she is all for me having it, even gave me a cool measuring tape (the kind for pregnant women) so I could see my progress. Of course my Dr. is 5'5" beautiful and everybit of 100 lbs.

Try not to worry about the procedure and it has nothing to do with being banded, You will get you band!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
