I had my first fill today. The dr. had me go eat something to find out how it was working. I went and ate and was able to eat way to much. I went back to him and we realized my stomach had spasmed, so he filled it with more, told me to go eat some yogurt I did, I was full after a couple of bites so I thought I was ok then get home and eat some refried Beans for lunch and once again I am able to eat more than I should. Has this happened to anyone else? It is a really long wait to get back in to see him and I really hope I didn't mess up leaving to early..

I went for my first postop appt today. I asked about fills because I'm starving! The PA said I'll only get 1cc put in at the first visit, another cc can be put in 6 weeks later and another cc if I need it 6 weeks after that! I was surprised! She said that I probably won't feel the proper amount of restriction until I get betwee 2 and 3 ccs. Ugh.

Most people don't get good restriction with their first fill. I didn't feel any restriction until my third fill. Be patient, you'll get there.

I have not had a fill yet but find it interesting your Dr had you eat. Mine makes you have liquids before the fill and then liquids for 2 days after the fill then 2 days of mushies. It is strange how different Dr.s have different quidelines!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
