the shirt too small...

Recommended Posts

Don't we all have one? I have this awesome tan button up shirt, cut in at the waist, very clean fitting and tailored. I would try this shirt on randomly through the last couple of years watching it slowiing slip away from being able to button it, much less being able to wear it. So..there it hang...in the very back of the closet.."maybe one day I will fit into it again", I would say.

That day would be Sunday, this past weekend. Looking for church attire, Wanting something to fit my new in transition body, I searched for anything to wear, and there it was. "Oh why not try?", I thought to myself. Yep, it fit. another small thing will a huge impact. My old "new" shirt made me happy. I wish all of you old "new" shirts. Keep up the good work!

That is a great feeling. But, unfortunately, soon you will be unable to wear it again as it gets TOO BIG!! I had that happen with some favorites. You will find plenty of new favorites for the new you.

I have a dress in the closet, that I never wore. It is about five years old, but brand new! LOL.

I want to fit into it!!!!!

Not sure I will ever wear it once it fits, as I'm not sure, I'll still like the style after all this time. But I am keeping it until it does fit and then I hope it eventually gets too big.

I'll be sure to post, if I get into one day!

Oooh - I had one!! It was a white button down shirt that my sister bought me over 3 years ago for my birthday. It never fit.

I put it on last Sunday to wear to church and it finally fit!! Not tugging over my chest or nothing!! And, wouldn't you know it, the top button popped off before I left the house so I didn't actually get to where it :frown:

I'm with you Kristen. If it weren't for the non-scale victories, I wouldn't know that I had lost an once. I never really saw myself as being that big (even at 277lbs) except in pictures, so I guess it is only fitting that I can't really see the loss. It kinda worries me though, I have lost 102 lbs now, how much will I lose before I can see it? Will I be satisfied when I reach my goal? I hope so.

By the way, there is a thread in this forum for non-scale victories and it would be great if some of you shared your stories there too. They are inspirational!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
