Sleep Study at Comprehensive Sleep Medicine

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used this facility? It's off the Tollway in Dallas. I just scheduled a study for tomorrow night and I'm a bit anxious. For one, I haven't been away from my dh or kids overnight in a LONG time and 2) I have a fear of the unknown, LOL!

I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I found out yesterday that my insurance covers the band, but since I have a BMI below 40, I need 2 comobidities... I have hight cholesterol, I'm pretty sure my bp is high (going to the doc for that on Friday) so I'm hoping to "seal the deal" with having sleep apnea. A little strange to hope for something to be wrong with me...

Well, I guess I can give my own experience in the morning! I'm going in about 45 minutes to do this study....

Well, if you get this in time, I had my sleep study a few months ago, and was diagnosed with apnea. I have the C PAP machine and have been getting a lot more real sleep. I don't feel as tired during the day now. At my study, I was in like a motel room. They hook up wires all over. My head, chest, stomach, legs... Its hard to get any sleep with all that crap all over you, but supposidly they work that out with the results. They were very nice. I even got coffee in the morning. Since I didn't sleep much there, I went home and took a nap!

Thank you for your response, Blund!!!

I went for the study and the facility was very very nice. Had a room just like a hotell room (private bathroom, night stands, TV with Cable). It was so nice. I got hooked up on my chest, legs, back, face and head. And yeah, it's a bit hard to get to sleep with all those wires, but I managed to. Had to be waken at one point because I started sweating and that we interferring with things.

THEN - 2:30am, I was waken up and told to go home. They lost all power and it didn't look to be coming back on anytime soon. So, I get all unhooked (by flashlight) and was told to come back for a RE do. So, I have to do this all over again Monday night, LOL!

Even thru the power outtage, they were very professional. They have never had this kind of thing happen before, so they were pretty embarrassed.

** BTW, I only had 1.5 hours left of testing when the lights went out. I was the furthest along in the study last night, but those results are null. I have to start over from the begining....

Holy S**t! The didn't have a generator to kick in when the power went out? At least now you'll know what to expect for your re-do. It was much easier for me the second time when they actually hooked me up to the C PAP machine. Its pretty cool how they can get all of your differrent readings while you sleep. In the morning, the guy told me "wow, you actually got more than 7 minutes of REM sleep!" I have my own C PAP machine now and its been great. After being on it for 2 months, I really feel the difference. Good luck

I went there for my study...it was a really nice place. Big comfy bed and flat screen TV. I didnt get to watch it for very long though before they were sticking wires all over me, LOL! It's true, it's so hard to sleep. I tossed for hours. The thing that bothered me the most was the air flow monitors they stick in you nose and in front your mouth. They tickled ALL NIGHT!!! You can't sleep on your stomach because they supposedly can't diagnose sleep apnea if you do...so that sucked too since I absolutely can't sleep on my side or back. Supposedly they got enough data and found I didn't have sleep apnea...even though I snore like a freakin grizzly bear with a head cold...I still don't have it. Plus if you have long hair, you'll have a time getting that toothpaste gook out from the electrodes they stick on your head....but hey...it's the price to pay to get this surgery done so just go with the flow and take a lot of Nyquil after you get hooked up!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
