Just got banded

Recommended Posts

Hello, My name is David. I live in Casper Wyoming. I just had my lap band procedure done 1/28/08. Really dont have anyone to talk to about it. My wife had the gastric bypass 7 years ago. I was just wondering what I got to look forward to. Would love to chat with anyone who has some good advise. Looking forward to hear from someone.

David

My name is Marieze and I am due to be banded on Wed. Feb. 13th. I've really looking forward to it, but just today I was thinking about the possibility of dying on the table and I completely freaked out!

Can you share some of the details with me? For instance, how long did your surgery last? How long till you got up and walked? Are you incredibly sore? When are you going back to work, assuming that you do? Any suggestions you may have are appreciated.....I'll check back.

Best of luck to you David!

Marieze

Hi David! I didnt know there were really people "from" Casper, WY. I have been trying to get my husband to apply for a job there :frown:

Use this forum for your support group, it is an awesome place to make sure what you are feeling, eating, and are going through is normal. Welcome to the board you are in for an awesome journey! Be sure to look at the before/after pics thread at the top of this general board it is very inspiring AND take your own pics to add later.

Hi David!

Fellow Wyomingite here... who did your band?

I'm in the Cody area now but was born a Greenie so I've slowly made my way up I-25 over the years.

Everyone here has been great so I hope you decide to stick around!

Hey Jamie was up?

Dr. M. Whittney Parnell. I was a greenie too. Born in Greeley. So how does this forum or chat thing work. Have you got banded? (new to this lap-band slang talk) Who? and when?

Later, David

David-

My daughter was born in Greeley! (Trying being pregnant with the Monfort smelll.. ugh) anyways... I have insurance approval but am waiting for a sx date, most likely mid-end of March. I am using Dr. Lewis in Riverton.... the next closest is in Great Falls, 6 hours each way so I'm trying to stay somewhat close for fills, etc.

It takes a while to find everything here on this board but I have learned so much!

Jamie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
