Hello!

I was banded in July 2006, have lost 91lbs so far. I have just begun taking Clomid in hopes of having a little one.

I am searching for other gals experience with Clomid. A few weeks ago during my first round at 50mg, I got really nauseous, my ovaries ached (I think) and my band was so tight!

Has anyone else had these symptoms or has anyone else had luck with Clomid & banding? Maybe I am just looking for encouragement. :frown:

Thanks for your help and advice ladies!!

I have ALOT of Clomid experience. I have had like 13 rounds of it. I have had 2 Clomid babies. THey are now 5 & 3. I would highly encourage you to chart your basal body temp while on Clomid b/c it messes up your cycle and you may ovualate earlier or later that you think. It wasnt until I was on my 3-4 cycle of clomid I saw the patern. I always ovulated 10 days after the last pill. This is how I finally did get pg. What questions do you have specifically? I was not banded at the time. But the ovary pain and hot/cold flashes are completely normal on clomid. It is yucky but worth it. Good luck Jill

Thanks for your help Jill!

I am not getting the info I need from my DR. She wants to try one more round then send me to a Fertility Specialist.

My questions are:

1 - When should I start taking my temp?

2 - What days should hubby and I...um..."get it on". I have read every day or every other day.

I have the Clearblue ovulation predictor, but only got as high as 2 bars (out of 3) last month. I am hoping my new dose of 100 mgs helps me to ovulate. I REALLY do not want to go through advanced fertility treatments.

Thanks for any help!

Well you need to temp every morning with a BASAL body thermometer (orally) and at the same time before rising, moving or anything. So keep it at your bedside and take your temp same time every morning even if it means setting an alarm temping and going back to sleep. There are charts that you need to graph it on. You can find one free online. I would also tell you to read the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility." It is by Toni someone. You should be able to easily find it. It will tell you everything you need to know. Order it today! It will save you a ton of money on OPK and advance fertility stuff etc. I would start doing the baby dance about 5 days after the last pill you take and continue every other day until you get a temp spike. Your temps will run lower like for example 97.3, 97.2, 97.4, 97.2 then it will spike up a half a degree or something like 98-98.4 or something (these are examples) and once it spikes it means you have ovulated in the last 24 hours. Only prob is once it spikes it is too late to baby dance the ovulation has occured. BUT if you do temp consistently you can count the number of days from the last pill to the temp spike and you will know the day you ovulated (the day before the spike) so the next month you know to concentrate the baby dancing on those days. For me it was always 10 days after I took my last pill so on day #9 we had better baby dance if we wanted to get pg. Does this make sense?? I hope so. Good luck and read that book it has charts in it. Happy baby dancing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
