Will I ever get restriction?

Recommended Posts

Today my Dr. put 2cc in my band for a total of 4cc and I'm feeling restriction, but he also told me that if I feel like I don't have any restriction, I should make an appointment to get a fill, he does not care if I have to come weekly. He just wants me to have restriction and if I fail, then he fails and he does not plan on failing. Maybe you should express yourself to your doctor, because you deserve satisfaction.

Hi, I just wanted to say congrats on the 48 lb weight loss. I do not know how much more you have to lose, but way to go so far. I really mean that. I was also banded in sept 07 and I have only lost 35lbs. I am thrilled about that though. For once in my life, I do not have to lose this weight over night ( like I ever could anyway). I had to have a unfill today and I am now at 4 cc's in a 10 cc band. It really hurt to eat solids and I dealt with it for three weeks. Ultimately I decided the pain wasn't worth it. My band was way too tight, and I also didn't sign up to lose this weight by drinking liquids. Also, I have an underlying fear if I lost the majority of the weight by drinking liquids, that I would gain the weight back once I started to eat solids again. And then I would be back to square one. With all that said, I hope you find your restriction without the pain that I experienced. I really feel like you are doing so great and my hope for you is to remember your accomplishments. Also, I am following ww points.

I went in for the fill today and it wasn't as bad as i had feared. I had gained 1.5 lbs (better than the 5 i had thought) and told the dr. everything. He said her would be more agressive in the fill this time and to call in a couple of weeks if i don't get good restriction to have another one. I am on liquid today and mushies for 4 days so i am hopeful today!

Glad you got the help you needed and see the Dr WAS willing to help with the fills. You didn't gain as much as you thought either!

You're back on track. Now go slow once you start back on solid foods, small bites, chewed well and you'll do fine.

Good for you for taking action. I'll bet your post helps someone else struggling, too.

Wow...this coming from someone who is only a month behind you and just now lost 10 lbs. I too had no restriction and just now have some (i go for my fourth fill Saturday), but man..if your willpower did all that..you go girl!!!! Restriction will come...and when it does you'll be melting 'em off even faster!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
