Weakness

Recommended Posts

I decided to go on a drink diet today. I had a shake (Isogenics) and a banana, at lunch I had a shake and a orange. I was teaching an art class and got really dizzy. I had to eat something fast. I ate some crackers and drank a root beer. Felt better right away. How is its going to be after my surgery. I haven't had the date set for surgery yet. Should be the last of February 2008.

Thanks,

Sharon

If the weakness happens again, eat a banana. Has a bunch of nutrients and will help if you get dehydrated from not enough fluids. I used to be a runner and that was written in stone, drink lots of fluids and eat a banana. Hope everything works out.

Hi Sharon,

I did use the Isagenix prior to my band and it is a tool to get you started. That being said I lost around 80 pounds with it and my husband lost 90. Great huh? Unfortunately once I quit drinking the 2 shakes a day and the meal (400-600) calories I started putting it back on and with in months I gained it all and more back. That is why I opted for lap band. I need a permenate tool. I simply could not keep spending the money for both of us to continue.(almost $600 mo.) Plus the cost of food.

But it would be a wonderful tool in preparing for the lap band surgery I would think. Has your Dr. told you what to do to prepare for surgery?

Do you feel like this on the cleanse? I did and that is when I stopped doing the cleanse. It was funny, I had a rough time in the beginning but then got used to it and went months with no problems. I cleansed 1X a month then out of the blue, everytime I tried to drink the cleanse I would gag.

Best of luck!

The band works at keeping you feeling full with very little food but it needs to be food. The more dense the food you eat, the longer you will feel full. I don't drink Protein Drinks at all, I eat all my calories. shakes go right through the band so you will not feel full for long with them. If I eat chicken and vegetables, for instance, I need very little and I will feel full for a long time. Also, you don't have the band yet, so you aren't going to be able to just take in so few calories and feel well.

You will do fine after surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
