Tummy tuck/ breast reduction.

Recommended Posts

How many of you needed a Tummy Tuck and/or breast reduction? And did you do it before you reached your goal or after? My surgeon said alot of his patients didn't need neither. But some did.

Insurance doesn't cover these do they? lol

dream, you might want to check out the Cosmetic and Reconstructive surgery forum (yep, there's a whole forum in here dedicated to that subject, isn't that cool?) for the answers to this. I think if I recall correctly, there is a long thread or possibly a poll thread that already asks the question about waiting to goal.

It is unfortunately probably impossible to judge whether you will need cosmetic surgery based on what someone else needed. We are all so different.

Sometimes insurance will cover breast reduction and panniculectomy, depends on your policy. For that answer, you'd have to call your insurance company and ask what the requirements for RECONSTRUCTIVE surgery are. No one covers cosmetic surgery that I have heard of.

At the rate my girls are shrinking, I definately won't need a "reduction", but I will definately consider getting them pulled back up in place. It's been YEARS since my nips watched me put my lipstick on. Now they just watch me tie my shoes.

Dont really need a Tummy Tuck (but could have a PERFECT stomach if I had a mini one, probably not worth the money, surgery, pain, recovery time though).

I definitely need a breast lift. Its the one area on my body that has really suffered, I already had loads of stretch marks on my breasts, I need them fixed.

I would like a Tummy Tuck but I don't know how much I will need one in the end. Right now I would say it's a definite "go" on the TT.

I won't consider PS until I've paid off this surgery so that will be another 4 years unless I can pay it off early. I want to give it some time after I get to goal to see if it can "bounce" back into shape so waiting on freeing up the funds should give me time to see what my final result is.

As far as a reduction - only on 1 side and only minor -I've always been bigger on side vs the other and I really just need a lift:rolleyes2:

OK - I DEFINITELY need a lift. I'm large chested and they appeared overnight when I was a teenager so they have NEVER been perky :rolleyes2:

I have to laugh at the image of my boobs watching me tie my shoes. I havent seen them looking back at me in the mirror for years. Any way, I had to wait one year for the surgery and if I follow up one year after surgery and need a Tummy Tuck my insurance will cover it as a regular surgery. So far so good. My only concern right now is getting the weight off nad that has still proven to be VERY difficult. My body screams to hang onto the fat it so dearly loves.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
