I was banded 6 days ago and I have so much gas in my stomach that I can hardly stand it. It feels like I have swallowed a sponge that has swollen. :D I can not stomach the idea of taking in anything but Water at this point, I even went to the ER this weekend with dry heaves and stomach cramps. Has anyone had this problem? What can I do? HELP!!!!

Hi Brandymom1234

I have had my first band adjustment 4 days ago and have been having the same problem. I cannot eat any solid food without it getting caught in my throat and the only way i can get relief is to bring it back up. I am also worrying that maybe the band is too tight. The cramping and wind is also quite bad. I am going to ring the dr and find out if this is normal. I will let you know what he says.

I feel for you and know what your going through.

talk soon

The walking wasn't working, but I think that I am finally getting a little bit better. I still can't stand the thought of "eating" anything. I tried to drink some milk last night, won't do that again for awhile. I guess this too shall pass. thank you for your advice.

I understand what u are going through. The gass and the bloated feeling is overwhelming. I went back to work today and had to leave a hour early nd the only thing that helped was to lay on my stomach with a heating pad and take a nap. It helped, but I still feel bloated. Good luck to you. I am 7 days post op. I know your pain!!! Dazzle

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
