Post Op Clear Liquids How can you heal?

Recommended Posts

My Doc and nutritionist have stressed that the first month after banding is all about healing and not to worry about losing weight. Isopure is on their list and has been very helpful to people thier first week. I am not banded yet, will be on 3-6-08. I am planning to stock on Isopure. They have a few different flavors, they taste horrible warm, need to be icy. I hope it all works out for you.

Panda, I'm going to use Beneprotein. It's odorless, tasteless and has no flavor. Just add it to your liquids, hot or cold. I've been test driving it this week in my Water w/crystal light and I have no idea it's there. Just getting some extra Protein. You can put it in broths, Vitamin water, jello-if you make own, stir in Soups, sauces, anything. It's sold at Walgreen's in my area. They keep it in the pharmacy section, I had to ask for it. Here's the link for you to check it out: Beneprotein Instant Protein Powder | Resource | Walgreens

My surgery is Monday, so I'm getting ready! Best of luck to you!!

I have a great Soup cookbook which I've never really worked with - sounds like a great time to start... I should do some clear Soups or consommes or what have you, and freeze them ahead of time.

Really, THANKS!!!

What a great idea, I am going to do that before I my surgery. Then I don't have worry about it. Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
