Atlanta- Dr. Larry Hobson/ Dr. Titus Duncan

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm familiar with some of the other Atl are docs people have mentioned on here. I'm scheduled for sugery on 2/25 with Dr. Hobson at Peachtree Surgical & Bariatrics and it concerns me that I can't find any mention of that group on here. Anyone familiar? I hate to even ask... This whole thing reminds me of when I was pregnant and would get on the chat rooms and then get freaked out because one person would say something to make me second guess myself or my doctor =) The whole love/hate thing with these sorts of forums, right? So if you have any experience with this group, I'd love to hear it. Just please don't tell me anything negative unless you know it for a fact :cursing: No heresay, please!!!!

Hi,

I am in Atlanta also but my insurance turned me down and both of those doctors were highly recommended by the hospital discussion class. Are you self pay and if so how much are they charging you?

I did not have the Lapban surgery, however 5 yrs ago I had teh gastric by pass done by Titus Duncans office. I have to say that his office is helpful and complete in their assistance. As a matter of fact this month I received a call from their office becasue I had not been back in a couple of years for a general check up. They were great they helped me schedule an appointment and asked in general how I was doing. As a patient of his office I would recommend them. His office cares about his patiences and wants you to stay in contact to make sure you stay on track. I have had a wonderful experience with his office.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
