Does anyone Know anyone that has had Apron on Tummy, and Arms done that is on Medicare? Medicare was really good about covering 80% of Lapband. Was not sure if they are as Cooperative about covering PS that is Medically necissary after all weight is lost,

I work for an excellent group of plastic surgeons... I will eventually will have surgery and I'm here if anyone has questions... There is a surgery that is covered by your insurance company if proven medically necessary... It's called a panniculectomy. The difference between that and a Tummy Tuck is that they only remove the excess skin versus tightening the muscles of the abdomen. If deemed medically necessary, your insurance company should pay for it :)

anyone from New Jersey that could recommend a top notch plastic surgeon in the NY/NJ area, for Lipo, breast lift and possibly a Tummy Tuck? and how much do they cost? Insurance ( I have Aetna) pay for any of it?

TRY DR. ROSE IN FREEHOLD NJ HE IS RECOMMENDED FROM MY SURGEON FOR ALL BAND AND GASTRIC PLASTRIC SURGERY.

Wow. Thanks. I thought I would need a Tummy Tuck but I am pretty sure that after the weight loss, I would need the pann...... (the last one). I already have a lot of skin that hangs down over that area as a result of my pregnancies. Have hopes that insurance may cover it.

I do as well and hope with the loss of weight I can have this done :D

Just letting you all know, I work for a plastic surgeon (I had LapBand surgery over 4yrs ago)- and most of those surgeries are not covered by insurance. The panniculectomy is covered with proof of photographs showing the "apron" which is a lot of hanging skin. I'm not sure if this applies to all insurance companies out of state. But in NY it's very hard to have those procedures covered. I had a mastopexy/augmentation last year and I paid for it.

Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I am just about ready to start my hunt for a good plastic surgeon. I live in Gretna Louisiana (New Orleans) and if anyone knows of a good doctor that does panniculectomy and Brachroplasty (abdomen and upper arms) in this area please let me know. Thanks guys.

Congrats Sherri, well done. I can tell you one thing, insurance has changed incredibly since I began my weight loss journey. I had a reduction and lift 10 mos. ago for breasts. Process was to find a plastic surgeon in my network, make an appt. go see, I know your problems are the same that most all of us have had. My surgeon had a form to check off everything, and it really was just about everything we have going on which I call 'the issue with the extra tissue'. Next step was my primary sent one page from two years ago that showed I had gone to see him and in that visit had X problem and he had noted 'plastic surgeon?' Sent that to the plastic surgeon who submitted photos, my form I filled out. They were so confident it was covered, they booked the surgery date my first visit. So they submitted the paperwork, images and surgery date for authorization, approved in I want to say less than 2 weeks. I have Humana.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
