no_average_woman 1 Posted December 11, 2010 Does anyone Know anyone that has had Apron on Tummy, and Arms done that is on Medicare? Medicare was really good about covering 80% of Lapband. Was not sure if they are as Cooperative about covering PS that is Medically necissary after all weight is lost,
Esime 9 Posted February 9, 2012 I work for an excellent group of plastic surgeons... I will eventually will have surgery and I'm here if anyone has questions... There is a surgery that is covered by your insurance company if proven medically necessary... It's called a panniculectomy. The difference between that and a Tummy Tuck is that they only remove the excess skin versus tightening the muscles of the abdomen. If deemed medically necessary, your insurance company should pay for it
Fab Karen 0 Posted April 18, 2012 great post now i know exactly what surgery is for me thanks for the information

Insurance ( I have Aetna) pay for any of it? TRY DR. ROSE IN FREEHOLD NJ HE IS RECOMMENDED FROM MY SURGEON FOR ALL BAND AND GASTRIC PLASTRIC SURGERY.
cathy45 9 Posted June 12, 2012 Wow. Thanks. I thought I would need a Tummy Tuck but I am pretty sure that after the weight loss, I would need the pann...... (the last one). I already have a lot of skin that hangs down over that area as a result of my pregnancies. Have hopes that insurance may cover it. Wow. Thanks. I do as well and hope with the loss of weight I can have this done
Esime 9 Posted June 4, 2013 Just letting you all know, I work for a plastic surgeon (I had LapBand surgery over 4yrs ago)- and most of those surgeries are not covered by insurance. The panniculectomy is covered with proof of photographs showing the "apron" which is a lot of hanging skin. I'm not sure if this applies to all insurance companies out of state. But in NY it's very hard to have those procedures covered. I had a mastopexy/augmentation last year and I paid for it. Good luck!

Lap_dancer 8 Posted March 7, 2015 I lost 300 pounds and keep it off and I 10 years Graduate. I have documentation with my Doctor on all the issues! I know my Insurance will approve all my reconstruction surgeries! What the process get started? Thank you Sherri Congrats Sherri, well done. I can tell you one thing, insurance has changed incredibly since I began my weight loss journey. I had a reduction and lift 10 mos. ago for breasts. Process was to find a plastic surgeon in my network, make an appt. go see, I know your problems are the same that most all of us have had. My surgeon had a form to check off everything, and it really was just about everything we have going on which I call 'the issue with the extra tissue'. Next step was my primary sent one page from two years ago that showed I had gone to see him and in that visit had X problem and he had noted 'plastic surgeon?' Sent that to the plastic surgeon who submitted photos, my form I filled out. They were so confident it was covered, they booked the surgery date my first visit. So they submitted the paperwork, images and surgery date for authorization, approved in I want to say less than 2 weeks. I have Humana.
