saw my family physician

Recommended Posts

Today both my husband and I saw our family physician to see if he would fill out the paperwork for the banding Drs, and out health insurance for the preauthorization. He didn't even hesitate he said yes! He already has some patients that have been banded, he was quite informed on the procedure already. He had us both get our Chest xrays and EKGS while we were there. He said the Drs in Port Huron Mi. move pretty fast. I have been to one of their seminars. Husband is going to one on Monday. I have called the banding Drs in Port Huron to set up consultations for both of us. I have been reading info from this and other sites. I love this site Keep your fingers crossed for us that things move along smoothly. I am trying not to get excited incase something falls through. :D :laugh :)

shamrock...you and i are pretty much in the same boat. i have seen my pcp...and i all ready did my psych eval. the doctor that i am using though here in ny really wants all the i's dotted and t's crossed before he does surgery. he is actually pretty strict. i have to loose 10 pounds prior to surgery too. i will have to have upper gi and endoscopy and a few other procedures prior to surgery....they really want to take every precaution out there known to man! i can't help but feel like i am sitting on my hands just waiting and waiting and waiting! my next appointment with the drs office is march 15th, and thats for blood work, upper gi and appointment with the nutricianist......GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR HUBBIE ON THIS ADVENTURE! I can't wait to start my new life!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
