Small red blisters near post site - HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone:

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I had my lap band surgery on January 17th and my port site is still very tender and sore which I expected. I took off my guaze bandage to change it where the port site it and near the incision is two small painful blister like welts. I am worried I have some sort of infection. Did this ever happen to anyone? I have been keeping the port site covered since surgery because any rubbing or bumping of the site hurts so I keep putting guaze and the tape they give you on it. I hope it is just some kind of skin irritation that will resolve on it's own but I'm worried. Anyone experience anything like this?

Thanks for any help.

Hi. I was banded on 1/9/08 and when i removed my dressing for the first time, I noticed I had developed a line of blisters at the top of my dressing. This is about 2 1/2 inches above my port incision. I thought that maybe I was having an allergic reaction to the tape. The blisters are now gone, but I still have a line across my abd where they were. At my two week post op, my doctor looked at it, and agreed that it could have been an allergy. If it dosen't start to get better, you should call your doctor.

Hi I developed a rash that hurt. I had some sort of reaction to the steri strips they used. I put cream on the rash and it eventually healed.

My guess would be the tape or bandaid you had on it made your skin irritated. I had some irritation; my husband put Neosporin on it. It's good now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
