WendyRae 0 Posted January 26, 2008 Hi.... I am exactly three weeks post-op. I have a question that I need a FAST answer to. I heard the rule with the mushie phase is anything you would give to a 6 month to 1 year child. Does that include saltines? I was hoping...YES! You know, it turns to almost nothing when you put it in your mouth! Thoughts?????
aubrie 6 Posted January 26, 2008 I think a cracker might be a little dry. The mushie stage is just that, wet and mushie. It needs to slide through easy, and also easily digested. A cracker might turn pasty in your stomach and cause you to work harder to digest it. I'd wait.
bullpen87 2 Posted January 26, 2008 sugar free puddings, sugar free jellos, Protein Shakes, sugar free popsicles, clear broth. Believe me, there's a good reason for sticking to it. Try really hard and I know how you feel. You'll be able to eat soon enough.
LDNurse 0 Posted January 26, 2008 I'm two weeks out and my doctor told me I could have crackers aven during this soft phase-but I had to chew, chew, chew!
Sterbear 0 Posted January 26, 2008 My doc said to put them in a Soup (chicken broth, tomatoe soup, etc) They are the only reason I survived!
Sunshine08 0 Posted January 26, 2008 Hi there I have eaten crackers with NO problems. Once they are in your mouth - they get extremely mushy. I was fine - I would think you should be too. I am just 2 1/2 weeks out -
flipbarnett 0 Posted January 27, 2008 I put them in my Soups. I am almost 3wks post op. I just tried them with crab and tuna salad and as long as I chewed well it was ok. Good luck.
coltonwade 27 Posted January 27, 2008 when in doubt ask YOUR Doc . I have problems with crackers sometimes now because they do have a tendency to turn pasty and Gummy once they go down . So I would not try it with out clearing it with your doc first. I dont think , if i remeber right I was allowed crackers until the "semi Solid "stage Mindy
