Anything you fix your family, you can run it through the blender before you eat it. You want to eat foods that are soft, fairly smooth (no large chunks), easy to digest.

Chili in the blender is great....

Yes to the creamed spinach (yum)

Just chew, chew, chew.

Mac and cheese is iffy for some - worked well for me (Pasta can be hard for some)

Mashed potatos (don't do too much of that though - wasted calories) - with gravy if you need it

I also did spaghetti - not al dente at all - mushy - but do not eat it heated up as it gets pastey and sticks.

The refried Beans from Taco Bell are great.

HTH

Yes mix the PB with the Ricotta cheese..it tastes like cheesecake..I also melted cheese into my refired Beans..with some hot sauce.. Yum

I was under the impression that PB is a no-no b/c it gets stuck in the band?

Don't forget about baby food! Don't laugh! I am only on day 5 post-band and still on liquids but I went shopping last night for my next phase of food. My fiancee and I found all kinds of baby food that I think I could eat. Heck, they are only about 35 cents each and very easy to travel with. Some I would NEVER eat but some sounded pretty good. Also, I bought one of the cheap Banquet frozen dinners, turkey and mashed potatoes (dont eat the peas and stuffing unless you are allowed). I can't wait till I can eat mushies!

banded 4/22/10

Start wt - 290

You can have thicker and creamier Soups, and soups with mix-ins, like soft veggies or potatoes that you can mash with a fork. Baked potatoes with salsa and cottage cheese (mash up the potato part), & puddings.< /p>

Dinty Moore Beef Stew run through a blender was my first mushy repast. 200 calories, 10g of Protein. After almost 4 weeks of liquids, it was like a steak dinner.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
