Well today was my first visit with the surgen and half way through the apt they told me that my insurance plan had changed. So we called the insurance company back and they gave us 4 diffrent stories in 45 min on the phone with them. The final anwser is they now only cover a COE. So I have to start every thing over again with new docs at a diffrent hospital. I was in luck and they did have a seminar tonight. But my first apt with them isn't even untill Febuary 13th. I would have been about to have my surgery by them. I was just really settled with who I was going to use. The worst thing is right before we found out about insurance, they told me that my surgery would be done by the end of Febuary. I am so angry that my plan changed 3 weeks ago. I have called to verify every thing just last week, after the changes, and they quoted 07 plan instead of 08 plan! The only good thing that has come from all of this is that now instead of having to pay $2000 out of pocket I now only have to pay $500. Sorry, but I really just needed to vent for a min. So to all of you listening Thank you very much!

January is always the month that those changes take place. Maybe this happened for a reason. You may really like the other Dr better. And thats a good amount of money saved that you can use to buy new clothes!! My Doctor.. I went to a seminar in February, mailed my info in within a week, and still didnt get the first Dr appointment until May or June. So my surgery was in August.

Hang in there, I feel all things happen for a reason, we just might not know what the reason is. Take this time to start chewing your food better, drinking the recommended amount of Water and cutting out sweets and carbs. Get a spiral notebook and you might also start writing down everything you eat and what your water intake is. The psych we went to likes to see all this to know you are serious, he will approve you faster. Good luck, it will be here before you know it.

i wish i had been covered- my insurance had an exclusion criteria which means they pay for nothing and I will have to pay out of pocket if God forbid any complications arise

I would be happy that things are moving forward! :rolleyes2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
