STARVING after 1st fill!

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill last week and ever since I have been starving! I will be going along happily content and suddenly I am dying to eat! Like in mere seconds I feel like I'm about to starve to death. Is this "head hunger" or what??

Could be head hunger...although after my first fill, there was no way that I had restriction. I have been pretty hungry between meals and when I do eat it is more than a cup of food. I go in on Tuesday for fill #2 and am hoping that I get restriction then!

I've had periods after fills where I've suffered gnawing physical hunger. I tend to be a bit more restricted for a week or two post fill and then it eases off and during that time, I really do only eat the half cup portions. Its simply not enough for my energy needs and consequently I am STARVING but I cant fit more in. Once the restriction settled and I could eat more, and more fulfilling food, it would always go away but I would keep losing.

That full feeling for me that I seemed to have by just having a band there went away within about 4 or 5 months, ever since its been a case of normal hunger levels, but smaller amounts of food to satisfy them. I can go Breakfast to lunch without eating easily but I need an afternoon snack, I cant make it from lunch to dinner. And I do eat about a cup at a time.

I seem to be hungry all the time, but cant eat much, and if I do overeat it is miserable, I seem to only lose weight after the fills for about 2 months..64 lost and 40 to go...nancy

I had my first fill 3 weeks ago and only felt restriction for a week. I am hungry all the time, I thought it was just me. My doctor scheduled me to go back on Feb 15th for another fill (if i need one) and that will be my 3 month out for blood work. Well I think I need more than one more fill. I am feeling very frustrated with the hunger. I'm glad i'm not alone, it makes it easier to know I have people out there that understand this stuff. Thanks for being there.

After my surgery, I was super hungry. After my first fill, I needed less to get me full, but still felt pretty hungry. Had my second fill thursday, and so far I'm doing really well. Not hungry and not eating much. When I do I really have to chew small bites and eat slowly. I can feel it MUCH more now.

I can't wait for my 2nd fill. I'm wondering if they will do it sooner than 3 more weeks. They wanted me to wait 6 weeks between them and then do bloodwork which would be my 3 months out at the next visit. Did anyone else have to wait so long in between fills?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
