Tomorrow (1/25) is the big day!

All this waiting, waiting, waiting, and testing, testing, testing. I thought the

day would never come! I am starting to think that the day before may be

worse than the day of. My doc required citrus of magnesium and I have been at work in the bathroom for a good chunk of the day.

Silly question - what does one use on one's tush when it feels like it is on fire? I am certainly "cleaned out."

Why am I not totally nervous? I feel pretty calm, almost surreal. Perhaps it's no food!

I am really happy:tongue: with my decision to have this surgery. I leave for the hospital at 7:30 tomorrow! Here I go! Karen

Karen

Thanks! and congratulations to you as well! I think once I had all my testing done - pre-op doc visit, labs, ab u.s., upper g.i., chest x-ray, (and just for kicks my personal physician thru in a stress echo at the hosp.) and everything came back normal I was truly at peace with this. I have been over weight since having my first child 20 years ago. Until that time I was a size 10/12. I never took off any of my pregnancy(s) weight and have put on more. I need this surgery to get back to being me! Good luck to you! Thanks again for your positive words. Karen

Okay, I am packing to leave for the hospital. Didn't sleep much last night. Today I am scared, nervous and excited. I guess I have been putting off these feelings until the last minute. I try to envision this afternoon at 5 pm when all is said and done. I have to stay the night at the hospital because I have sleep apnea. I hope to be watching a movie and having something to drink! I am thirsty!!!! Thanks for all your kind words. I really appreciate them. There's nothing quite like the support of people who understand what's going on! Yikes!!!!!!!!!!! Here I go...........Karen

Hi Karen,

I was banded 1/25 as well. On day 2 after the banding, my behind was soooooooooo raw even after using wet wipes so my Mom gave me a tube of this stuff.. Blairex Laboratories Inc. Health Care Products and Dietary supplements .. It is such amazing stuff and has helped so much. I hope your surgery went well !!! We'll be knock outs before you know it :-)

Jennifer

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
