Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Recommended Posts

I'm just as much on the fence as you are Leslie, LOL. I was able to eat a pack of whole wheat crackers for Breakfast this morning and this is RARE for me. Usually I am so tight in the mornings that I am not hungry at all. But yesterday and today the hunger pains have returned. I'm going to see how it goes today but usually I can't eat anything until lunch time and then sometimes I have trouble eating even then. My band is so weird. Sometimes I can eat a good bit at lunch and then can't eat much of anything at supper. Then sometimes I can't eat much for lunch and then can eat the kitchen sink at supper time. There is rarely a constant restriction level for me. I am scared of being too tight as well because I've been there and done that too! I haven't had a fill since May 27 so I think it may be time for one, even if only .10 of a cc. Depending on how this week plays out will determine whether or not I get a fill. I am not used to the hunger and now it seems to be returning more often than it has been. If only our bands came with an indicator light, fdlol!

Mia - what a great idea! I want an indicator light too! - It's time for a fill - some of that fat has burned off...then we need a gage to tell us how much to put in or take out. We'd be RICH!!!

Leslie,

Did you go to the Y this morning or exercise at home? I thought about it around 5:00 but it was raining (at least that's my excuse :crying:!). I'm going this afternoon after work as usual. I think I'd feel better too if I went in the morning. I may have to try it.

Jeannie and I met this morning at the Y. I ended up upping my membership so I could use the women's health center rather than the locker rooms. It is HOT in the locker rooms and they actually have the air on in the WHC. So worth the extra few dollars a month!

I feel so much better today and the run wasn't nearly as hard as it is in the afternoons. I guess my body was well rested. You ought to give it a shot. I know you're swamped at work right now too. That'll free up your evenings - although I know you are enjoying delegating right now :-)

I'd have to go somewhere between 5:00 and 5:15 so that I can get back home and get dressed to go to work. I have a 40 minute commute one way and like to be on the road by 7:00 or 7:15.

I may try it in the morning. Are y'all going back in the morning? What time?

Jackie - I'm not sure yet. Jeannie was rushing trying to get to work on time this morning, so we haven't discussed it. I'll try to call her later today and find out what the plans are for tomorrow. It may be 5:45-6:00. Not sure. I'll definately let you know.

I'm so glad to hear from everyone! Brina, you are right, those places are sinfully good! I am from Moultrie too, so next time you are here, give Mia and me a holler.

I've been doing pretty well and I am ready to start running again! I'm going to the Ortho on Friday to have my knee checked out. It feels pretty good right now, probably because I haven't ran in a week. I promised DH I wouldn't run until I got it checked out so I guess I have to keep my word, lol.

My restriction level has been pretty good most days. Making myself eat the right foods has been a big problem though. I was sooooo focused when I started C25K and eating good, and now that I'm not running, I am struggling with the food a bit. I think I have lost my focus.

Leslie,

I may not see y'all then. I have to go that early so that I can make it to work at the time I like to get here.

Pam - I hope your appointment goes well. I know you miss running. I miss it when I'm not. I tried to swim last night at the Y. My suit has hooks on the back (more decorative - not for support!). Well - lets just say if anyone was looking they received any eye full. The hook came undone after about five laps...I decided I need a whole, whole piece. I didn't get to finish! LOL

Thanks Les! I bought a one-piece the other night and I felt much more comfortable swimming in that. I wear my little skirt with it too. Do you go to the recreation swim or the lap swim? I've just been doing laps during the recreation swim time. That way, DH and DS can go too. We take turns swimming laps and swimming with DS.

They have two lanes reserved for laps at all times. I usually go whenever my schedule is open. I'm going tomorrow morning and doing laps after my workout. That Water feels so good after working out. How are you enjoying swimming?

I asked last night about the distance - 25 yards. It is half the size of an olympic pool.

I am enjoying swimming but it's a lot harder than I remember, lol. It tires me out much more than running, probably because you use your whole body. Did you swim in school? Do you just freestyle swim or do something else?

It's funny, like you said on the C25K thread, how our bodies react differently to exercise. I've NEVER been a runner - or remotely close. I only ran if I was chased by something, and then not very fast. That's why I love the challenge of it so much. However, I've always swam. I think that's why it is easier for me now that the running. My body remembers the moves. The running is kicking my butt, but I'm loving it.

My parents have a pool at their house, so I grew up in the Water (from about 9 months). If it was uncovered (spring/summer), I was in the water. We didn't have a swim team at school. I wish we had. I do the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle too. I've never had "official lessons". The Y teaches adult lessons on technique and I'm thinking about taking a couple to work on my form.

I've been watching the Olympics and the breaststroke looks really hard to do. I've just been freestyling. I'm not sure if the Y in Moultrie has that kind of lessons. They have adult swim lessons but I'm not sure if that's technique lesssons or just swimming lessons. Interesting though....

Jalapeno cheese cheetos are the DEVIL! My husband bought some and I made the mistake of trying one..OMG I have to keep those things away from me they are SO good! chips in general are my weakness! Gosh I can tell I'm hungry! I definately think I need a fill, I was able to eat noodles today with no problem. I usually get them stuck. I made spaghetti last night and I usually just eat the sauce but alas, I can eat the noodles now and was able to eat them at lunch with no problem too. I think losing 10 more pounds has loosened my band right on up. I got the key to my treadmill today and I did work out some at lunch. Which made me even hungrier!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
