Hi everyone, I have been gone a while. I got discouraged because insurance turned me down. Anyway as of yesterday we have been able to get financing so I am going to call Dr. Bagnato's office on Monday. Can anyone tell me how long they were out of work?

I had my surgery on a Thursday and went back to work on Monday. I don't think there is a "set" time to be out. I should have taken a couple more days - I was really worn out that Monday and Tuesday. Congrats on your financing!!! I hope your appointment goes well.

Tiger - I also had mine on a Thursday and I went back on Tuesday, but only worked 1/2 days until Friday (I also had 3 hernias repaired so that slowed me down a little more than some). Let us know when you get your date. With being self-pay it won't take you long at all.

I can't wait until tomorrow when I call make the appointment. I have to quit smoking now though. I am going sometime this afternoon to buy some Patches to see if that will work. I used them before but stress got to me and I started back thinking I wouldn't eat as much if I was smoking well.... that didn't work obviously. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.:biggrin2:

Tiger,

I had to fight hard to get my insurance company to pay. I had to get a second opinion letter that the surgery was necessary. I had to meet with a psycharist and a dietician. They still weren't going to pay for the hospital since Phoebe is my local PPO and Palmyra isn't. I got Phoebe to give me a letter stating that they don't have that type of surgery at their hospital.

They finally paid as they should have in the first place!

Good luck with your surgery. My surgery was April 22 so Tuesday will be my one month anniversary!!!

Greetings my fellow bandsters,

Just a quick note on an update. This weekend I had a meeting to attend out of town and so I didn't get much exercise. To make matters worse, I was involved in an auto accident while going to work so I wont be able to exercise for a couple more days. I wiill have a fill wednesday. I hope I will not have gained too much weight from not exercising.

Jonathan got me thinking about exercise and I wanted to see what everyone else did each week and how often they worked out and for how long...

So what is your exercise routine? How often do you work out each week and for how long? Do you find that after a few weeks of doing the same thing you have to change it up to see the scales keep moving?

I know i need to be doing something but i have a milllion excuses and no real reasons! take care!

I usually walk or ride my stationary bike. I try to do at least an hour a day.

Would anyone be interested in meeting and riding bicycles? I just got a new one and will be riding it at Chehaw Park. The gates close at 5:00 each day so I have to be there before that. I can ride until sundown. I'm a Friends of Chehaw member so I don't have to pay admission.

Interested anyone?

Hi Everyone- just wanted to post a quick update- I'm trying hard to stay on plan and at around 1000 calories a day. Its hard- especially with zero restriction. I'm also moving my big rear and walking a mile every day! I will be glad to get a fill on Friday and back to being able to eat only small amounts. It's comical (almost) that just a few weeks ago I was whining about not being able to eat 'normal' foods and wishing for the days when I'd be able to eat them. Now I'm wishing I could go back to the restricted feeling. LOL. I swear I am a gas factory. LOTS of foods and even exercise I find, gives me gas- or lets me expel the gas- LOL. I'm feeling much better about having my port revision and am slowly but surely coming out of that depressed mood that I had gotten into. I appreciate everyone who msg'd me and checked on me. I will update on Friday as soon as I'm home from the procedure. Thank the lucky lord Dr. B says I don't have to have the zappy wrist thing again- Its crazy, but the only thing I really am dreading is the darn IV- which should tell any newbie that the actual procedure is not that bad at all!! Everyone's progress looks great! Hopefully soon I'll be back to seeing the numbers go DOWN!!

I'm going to have lapband, waiting for Dr appointment now. What is that zappy wrist thing. Thanks, Mary Lou

The zappy wrist thing is an anti nausea device that they place around your wrist after surgery. It sends electrical zaps to keep nausea at bay. You have a conductive gel that you place on the skin surface that is supposed to keep it from being very bothersome, that being said I HATED THAT THING! I was alergic to it, come to find out, as it left blisters and burn marks on my skin and I kept it moist with that gel. Most ppl don't react that way so don't be scared about it. I just tell you my experience as I think it still shocks me. I'm not allergic to most anything but that darn thing was a nightmare. It was literally the worst part of the surgery process for me. Welcome and good luck on your journey!

I didn't have the zappy wrist thing. I was given a nausea pill to take that was supposed to last for two days. It must have - no nausea at all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
