Georgia Girl! please dont rule out kidney stones. I had my gal bladder out 10 years ago and the other night i was awakened with severe pain that has never been so bad since my gal stones. They found a kidney stone and i am still in pain.

Just make sure you get it properly diagnosed!

Thanks, I'll definitely keep it in mind. Hopefully the doctor will be able to tell me something..........

I have the 10 CC band also with 3CC's in it so far- I go next thursday for another fill and am hoping for restriction!! It seems I've hit a plateau and cannot get these darn scales to move- I'm not gaining thank goodness- but I'm not losing either- I weighed this morning and I'm still stuck at 351- what I would give to kick those scales past 350!!! I have only been in the 340's once and seems like it just will not get back down, lol. Only a few more days till my fill!!

I have the 14cc band with only 3 cc's in it and one fill. I have finally hit a plateau and have no restriction, but am being very careful with what I eat, but it doesn't seem to matter. The scale hasn't moved at all for about 2 1/2 weeks. My next appointment isn't until the 5th of March and I only wish it was tomorrow. I'm soo tired of being good and it not showing, the will power is definitely slipping away.

Hello Everyone:

Well the big day is Monday. And you, you guessed it, I am still scared as all hell. I am defintitley still going through with it, but that still does not mean that my inner chicken is calm.

I was wondering if anyone had any presurgery advice to give me. What to wear not to wear. Anything to bring or not to bring. Surprises that they did not tell you until you got there. That kind of stuff. I have never even seen and operating room (well a one for humans anyhow:huh2:).

I have never had a surgery in my entire life so I know that this is part of why this is all so scary for me.

I would welcome anything that you guys could tell me.

As always congratulations on your success so far. Thanks for being such an inpsiration!

Any idea how they come up with what size band to give you? I know I'm bigger than a few of you with the 14CC band- I thought surely I'd have goten the bigger band, lol. Maybe I'm confused with how that works. Anybody know? YOu would think my stomach would be bigger than littlier people.

Brina-

I brought with me the anti nauseau med (the one you take an hour before surgery) my liquid pain med (lortab), gas x strips and a pillow for the ride home. Wear comfortable clothing (stretchy pants and a loose top) I could not wear my bra home so I was glad I kinda had a loose fitting top on cause my girls are humongous. Wear shoes that are easy to slide on- you won't want to be bending to tie or fasten anything. Since you are by yourself just bring a few items so you wont have much to carry. I watched tv while waiting to go to the OR and while waiting for discharge so I dont think you'll need a book or anything. Good Luck and update as soon as you feel able to!

Didn't even think of that! I HATE going braless!

Here's another question...what about nail polish? Do I need to remove that from my fingers and toes? I know some places have you do that and some don't. I figured I'd definitely need to wear my glasses instead of my contacts.

Allykat;

I don't think it matters about the nail polish. I have acrylic nails and that wasn't an issue. All of these things can be addressed during your pre-op visit to same day surgery.

As for the bra, I found it be very helful to wear my bra after surgery, soft-up, no underwire. It gave support to my breast as I am a 44DD, and the post-op nurse advised wearing it to keep pressure off the port area. As for me, I found it more comfortable for resting once I got home. But everyone is different.

Good luck!

You know, I was wondering the same thing. I started out a good bit heavier than some of the others and wondered why a smaller person would need a bigger band. Maybe someone will be able to answer that for us. Maybe it was just a personal preference by the patients?

I absolutely wore my bra. I don't care how drugged up I was..........I will not go out in public without my bra on! The girls don't deserve any freedom right now, maybe after I lose weight and get a lift, lol!

I actually do think I have a kidney infection or a urinary tract infection because I have had blood in my urine since last night. I can't see the doctor until Monday because they closed early today, just my luck:rolleyes:. Okay, a kidney or urinary tract infection would explain the back pain episode, but it still doesn't explain the other pain I had on my right side at my ribs. I'm still thinking it could be gallbladder too.

My sister is a midwife and she told me that the pain of kidney stones is pretty close to being in labor :tt2:. My pain wasn't anything near that bad. She also said that the pain on my right ribcage was in fact, right where a gallbladder attack would take place. I guess I will know more next week. Until then I will just drink a lot of Water.< /p>

I hope they get that sorted out for you pamela- sounds like its not pleasant. Maybe Terri will login and be able to answer out band size questions. I'm very curious myself.

I hope you feel better Pamela. Do you have a walk-in clinic near you? If it gets really painful over the weekend, I wouldn't wait until Monday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
