Got my fill on...

Recommended Posts

Okay all I got my first fill yesterday. 4cc total. wow I was a little shocked I didn't think he would do so much. I've read other bands and have seen 2-3 cc's as the norm.

Anyway I had Soup for dinner and Cream of Wheat for Breakfast. I just had a cheese Quesadilla. I was only able to eat one and 1/2 peices of it. Last week I could have eaten the whole thing. WOW :rolleyes2: I am elated. I was wondering when I would feel the effects. Now I have. I know there could be some swelling, but I like the feeling. I hope it stays for a while.

I can't get another fill for a month. I'll let you know.

I love the level of restriction I have right now -- not so much that I have problems getting the food down (and I haven't found anything that I can't eat) but not so little that I'm hungry or eating too much. I'd be perfectly happy if it stayed this way since I'm also losing weight. Guess I'll just have to see how it goes. :)

I'm glad you're doing so well! :cool2:

Okay, so I have ben eating but foundout I can't eat leftovers. I had left over chicken and I guess it drys out a little but it got stuck and was the hardest thing to eat.

Since the fill I have to really watch what I eat for now.

After each fill my doc always tell me I should stay on liquid diet and then mushies for a week or so to allow my stomach to calm down (stomachs don't like to be messed with).

I've had 9 fills till now - my doc is very conservative with fills (he does 0,5cc each time...) which can be quite frustratiing...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
