I definitely did not wait 4 months. I was in the office, I believe within 6 weeks. The only requirement for fills, as far as time restraints, is that you have to wait 2 weeks in between fills.

Hi, Well when i went to my surgeon's office last month I lost four pounds at my weigh -in then the nurse came back and told me to go home and schedule an appointment for three more months that the Dr. wasn't going to see me today....I didn't get to see the nutrionist either! So here I am hoping to find some lapbanders who will help me not feel so abandoned! lol I guess I'm feeling a little scared that i won't be a success! Any advice?

I've done great. 60 pounds and counting. I have had 3 fills so far. The hardest habit that I've had to break is eating too fast. I have had some difficulty with the Protein shakes. They have started making me gag. I've had to be careful about choosing the right foods so that I can get the recommended amount of Protein in per day.

Tabatha,

Sounds like you are doing great! I know what you mean about the Protein Shakes, I am so sick of sweet things and can't wait till I can eat some real food (I am 10 days post op). How soon after your surgery were you allowed to eat "mushies"?

I haven't had the band yet, but in my opinion, yes, I would call to get a fill-I've read on this very informative site that most people get one about 6 weeks after surgery.

Hi there,

I have also just started my insurance journey and my doc said it will take about 5 mos before getting everything approved. How is it going now? How were the nutritionist appts. I am having my first nutritionist appt on 3/25.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
