Plantar facsiitis anyone?

Recommended Posts

I have had two episodes.

The first was about 15 years ago. I went to a podiatrist who had orthotics made for me, then injected cortisone (numbed the nerve in my heel first thank God!), and used ultrasound. It eventually went away.

The second round I have had now for the past year. I have tried everthing. Night splints, arch supports, taping, stretching, oral steroids, cortisone injection (and he did NOT numb the foot first!!!!!! OMG!!). The only thing that I haven't been able to get was the ultrasound and I'm beginning to wonder if that made the difference before. I am at the point now of trying the accupuncture. At this point I will try anything. I am almost disabled from the pain sometimes (having to use a motorized grocery cart, having to support myself using the edge of the bed when I first get up. I'm sitting here now in $100 Air Nike's with arch supports in them.

I am hoping that weight loss will help but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Well, I am going to get the ultrasound treatments, so we will see how that goes.

Jack, the orthopedic doctor wrote the prescription for "longitudal arch supports" so I am assuming it will be a hard, custom made orthotic? I went to the Good Feet store a few months ago, and they had one that felt really good-it had a really high arch and took the pressure off my heel. (I think my high arches are part of the problem.) But the Good Feet store wants you to buy a set of 3 different insoles- a firm, medium, and soft one so to speak. And they advise you switch them out throughout the day, going from the hard one progressively down to the softest one. Like I have time for that!! I thought about just buying the one I liked, but it was still over $200, so I figured I would get them professionally made so my insurance can pay for it!

I have a neuroma and a hammertoe on my right foot. The pain comes and goes. Some days I can be on my feet all day and then go walking for an hour. Other days I get up and the first thing I feel is an electric shooting pain through my foot. Did this bother me at 330 lbs? Of course not!! It seems that the more I exercise the worse it gets. I can really relate to the concept of your body interfering with what you want to do!!!! It drives me crazy-I have my toes taped up all the time, I get some inquisitive glances in yoga, but at least I can do it with my toes taped. Man,:frown: getting old sucks!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
