Lap Band Fills

Recommended Posts

I have just had my 3rd fill for a total of 5 c.c.'s. The last fill was a whole 1cc. For the first day I was great restricted, but today it is just like all the other fills about 2 hours after a small meal I am major hungry!!! With the exception of the first 2 weeks I have been hungry for the most part.

Am I destined to be a BOTTOMLESS PIT??

I am tired of being hungry!!

Thanks For The VENT

Connie:confused:

I am having the same problem, and I am not sure what to do. I hoped that I would have that feeling of fullness, and not the uncontrollable hunger. I too feel like is this going to work. My doctor put in a total of 7cc over 4 fills and I have never felt full, or anything. I feel very discouraged.

Do you have the new AP band? I was banded on 9/19/07 and found out at one of my fill appointments that I have this band and that it takes longer to get the "sweet spot" that they talk about. I too have 5 cc's in my 10 cc band and was doing really great at my fourth fill. I had really good restriction for about one week. I read that the more you lose, the looser the band gets therefore requiring more fill, but with this new band and since my surgeon only started using it and doesn't have any long term feedback from patients about it that they just don't know what it's going to take to get the sweet spot. That is my feeling, and I may be totally off the mark here, but I KNOW what you are going through and I hope that we get there. Good luck.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
